  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Contract for 2022-23 guaranteed

Collins had his contract for the 2022-23 season guaranteed by the Spurs on Friday, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Collins is under contract for two more seasons with San Antonio, though the final year is still not guaranteed. The organization has opted to bring Collins back after a solid first season, though much of it was spent rehabbing ankle/foot issues, and he didn't make his debut until Feb. 4. During his final 12 appearances, Collins averaged 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 20.5 minutes.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Corrals 11 rebounds in start

Collins accumulated seven points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and three blocks across 22 minutes during Saturday's 100-94 loss to the Warriors. Collins was moved into the starting lineup Saturday in place of Jakob Poeltl (back), and he came through with his second double-digit rebound effort over his past four contests. The big man did snap a four-game streak of double-digit scoring performances, however, as he took only five shots from the field. Collins has become an increasingly important part of the Spurs' rotation down the stretch and could be a key frontcourt factor in the team's play-in game(s) during the coming week.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Starting vs. Warriors

Collins will start Saturday's game against the Warriors. With a handful of Spurs players, including Jakob Poeltl (back), shelved, Collins will get the start. In his three previous nods, he's averaged 10.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 22.7 minutes.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Records double-double

Collins closed with 18 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 7-10 FT), 13 rebounds and two assists over 31 minutes during Sunday's 113-92 win over the Trail Blazers. Collins scored in double digits for the fourth time over his last five games, and he fully took advantage of a spot start Sunday with Jakob Poeltl (back) sidelined. Collins should head back to the bench if Poeltl is able to face the Nuggets on Tuesday, though.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Starting in place of Poeltl

Collins is starting Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers. Jakob Poeltl was a late scratch for Sunday's matchup due to lower back tightness, so Collins will make his first start since March 12. Collins has scored in double figures in three of his last four appearances and has averaged 10.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 19.5 minutes per game during that time.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Approaches double-double off bench

Collins recorded 15 points (3-5 FG, 9-12 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in Friday's 130-111 victory over Portland. Collins saw a huge boost in production after averaging just 6.5 points per game this season. The Gonzaga product tied his season high in points to go with his second-highest rebound total, and he has scored double-digit points in three of his last four games.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Solid play from bench

Collins produced 13 points (6-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in 21 minutes during Monday's 123-120 win over the Rockets. The Spurs are showing great confidence in Collins, who logged more than 20 minutes for the second time in three games. Collins' biggest concern is staying healthy, as the big man has played only 32 games over the past two seasons. If he can stave off injury, he'll play a key role in the team's run for a playoff spot.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Blocks four shots in loss

Collins accumulated five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and four blocks over 19 minutes during Monday's 149-139 loss to the Timberwolves. With Jakob Poeltl available after resting the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday, Collins returned to his usual bench role. He played his typical 15-20 minutes and blocked a season-high four shots, but Collins, who made his season debut in February, continues to search for his offensive rhythm after being sidelined from NBA action since August 2020.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Falls short of mark in loss

Collins finished with nine points (3-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one block over 20 minutes during Saturday's 119-108 loss to the Pacers. Collins moved into the starting lineup Saturday, replacing Jakob Poeltl, who was out due to a back injury. Despite the promotion, Collins remained on a minutes restriction and failed to deliver a 12-team worthy line. He does appear to have overtaken Jock Landale in the rotation, but with the Aussie going off in the loss, it will be interesting to see if the tides change moving forward.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Starting for injured Poeltl

Collins will start Saturday's game against the Pacers. Collins gets his second start of the season with Jakob Poeltl (back) sidelined. Collins saw just 17 minutes in his first start but set season highs with 19 minutes and 15 points as a sub in his most recent game.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Pops for season-high 15 points

Collins racked up 15 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one block across 19 minutes during Friday's 104-102 victory over the Jazz. Collins saw a season-high minute total in the victory, coming through with his best game of the season. Since making his season debut in early February, Collins has been able to carve out a regular spot in the rotation. His production has been a bit up and down, which isn't surprising given that he hadn't played in an NBA game before that since August 2020.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Strong defensive showing off bench

Collins scored five points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt) while adding 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in 18 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 123-117 loss to the Hornets. The former Portland center has arguably his best game yet since finally joining the Spurs lineup, recording double-digit boards and multiple blocks for the first time this season. Collins has yet to see even 20 minutes in a game behind Jakob Poeltl, however, limiting his fantasy utility to DFS formats.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Returns to bench

Collins will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Grizzlies, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports. Collins drew a spot start Saturday against the Heat due to the absence of Jakob Poeltl (back), but with Poeltl back in action Monday, Collins will go back to a reserve role. He's averaging 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 16.2 minutes in his last six matchups off the bench.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Available Saturday after all

Collins (rest) will play Saturday against the Heat but is expected to be on a minutes restriction, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. It was initially reported that Collins would get a rest day Saturday, but it sounds like he's now expected to see about 15 minutes (or less) of court time against Miami. Jock Landale is still likely to see extra minutes in San Antonio's frontcourt due to Collins' minutes restriction.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Out Saturday

Collins won't play in Saturday's game against the Heat for rest purposes, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins didn't make his 2021-22 debut until earlier this month after a prolonged recovery from foot surgery, so the Spurs are simply just exercising some caution in holding him out of one half of back-to-back sets. He played 16 minutes in Friday's 157-153 double-overtime win over the Wizards, finishing with four points (2-5 FG, 0-2 2Pt), three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Not on injury report

Collins (ankle) isn't on the injury report for Monday's game against the Bulls. Collins was unavailable Saturday against New Orleans but should be back in action following a one-game absence. He averaged 6.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game across his last three appearances.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Ruled out Saturday

Collins (ankle) is out Saturday against the Pelicans, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins has appeared in each of the last three games, and he averaged 6.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 15.7 minutes per contest during that time. He'll sit out the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday, which should lead to increased run for Jock Landale.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Looks good in 2021-22 debut

Collins (ankle) provided 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals across 13 minutes Friday in the Spurs' 131-106 win over the Rockets. Collins' Spurs debut -- and his first appearance at the NBA level since August 2020 -- went about as well as the team could have envisioned. After signing him to a three-year contract this summer, San Antonio was careful to ease Collins back into action following multiple surgeries on his left foot/ankle, but the 24-year-old impressed in his initial appearances with the Spurs' G League affiliate in January before getting the call to the NBA club Friday. He stepped in as the top backup to starting center Jakob Poeltl and made a case to keep that role over Jock Landale (concussion) moving forward with an impressive outing during his limited time on the court. Unless the Spurs are willing to give Collins some more run at power forward, his path to steady minutes is somewhat blocked, but at the very least, the 24-year-old put himself on the radar in deep leagues with Friday's performance.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Available to debut Friday

Collins (conditioning) is off the injury report for Friday's game against the Rockets. Collins has been out since August of 2020, with ankle and foot injuries derailing the early portion of his career. The Spurs gave him eight warm-up games in the G League this season, where he averaged 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 blocks in 25.8 minutes. Now, after getting his conditioning up, he's ready to potentially make his season and team debut Friday. Assuming Collins sees the court, he probably will have his workload monitored, and fantasy managers shouldn't expect significant minutes out of Collins in the near future. However, with the team struggling and unlikely to make the playoffs, we may see a bump in playing time after the All-Star break and down the final stretch of the regular season.

  • Spurs' Zach Collins: Could make Spurs debut Friday

Collins may make his Spurs debut Friday night against the Heat, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Collins has not played since August of 2020 in the NBA bubble, as a series of ankle and foot injuries have derailed the early portion of his career. It's been a long road back for the No. 10 overall pick in 2017, but after spending considerable time conditioning and playing in the G League, it looks like he's close to returning to NBA action. Coach Gregg Popovich stopped short of explicitly saying that Collins will play Friday, but with both Jock Landale and Jakob Poeltl in concussion protocols, it would make sense to bring the Gonzaga product back into the fold. Chances are, the Spurs will handle Collins' workload with extreme caution in the short term, but he could grow into an expanded role after the All-Star break.
