Collins (finger) underwent surgery on April 8 to address an infection in his finger, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Collins sustained a cut on his finger April 6 against Portland and missed the final two games of the regular season. It was initially believed to be only a minor issue, but a subsequent infection sent the big man to the hospital. "I was in the hospital overnight," Collins said. "It was just so much for something so small. It was crazy." With the Spurs' season over, there's no long-term concern here, and Collins should be back up to speed within the next few weeks. In his second season in San Antonio, Collins appeared in 63 games (26 starts) and logged averages of 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.8 blocks in 22.9 minutes per contest.... See More ... Spurs' Zach Collins: Out for final two games
Collins (finger) will not appear in the Spurs' final two games, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. The team sent Collins home due to an issue with the stitches on his finger, so he'll remain out for the rest of the season. The 2022-23 campaign was an important step in the right direction for the young big, who has dealt with injuries throughout his career, appearing in only 245 games since being drafted No. 10 overall in 2017. Collins set career marks in points (11.6), rebounds (6.4) and assists (2.9) per game, plus field-goal percentage (51.8) and three-point percentage (37.4). In his career-high 26 starts, the Gonzaga product averaged 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.7 combined steals-plus-blocks in 28.2 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Posts double-double in return
Collins (finger) accumulated 21 points (9-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 30 minutes during Thursday's 129-127 win over Portland. Collins moved back into the starting lineup following a one-game absence due to a lingering finger injury and posted his first 20-point double-double since March 12. He also showcased his defensive prowess by blocking at least three shots for the fourth time this season. Collins continues to periodically sit out games to manage injuries, but when available, he's been a steady contributor, averaging 17.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.9 steals in 28.8 minutes over his past 12 appearances.... Spurs' Zach Collins: Starting Thursday
Collins will start in Thursday's contest against Portland. After returning from his finger injury, Collins will return to his spot in the starting lineup, as Sandro Mamukelashvili will slide to the bench. Expect Gorgui Dieng to see limited minutes with Collins back.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Available Thursday
Collins (finger) will play Thursday against the Trail Blazers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins suffered a cut on the pinkie finger of his left hand and was forced to sit out for one game. With the center set to return, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Gorgui Dieng will likely see their minutes decrease.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Probable Thursday
Collins (finger) is probable for Thursday's game versus Portland. Collins is on track to return from a one-game absence, which will likely result in Sandro Mamukelashvili returning to the second unit and Gorgui Dieng's minutes taking a dip. Check back for official confirmation on Collins' status closer to Thursday's tip.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Won't play Tuesday
Collins (finger) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Suns, Ty Jager of FanSided.com reports. Collins will miss at least one contest due to a cut on the pinkie finger of his left hand. In his absence, Sandro Mamukelashvili figures to draw another start at center, while Gorgui Dieng would also be a candidate for increased playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Questionable Tuesday
Collins is questionable to play Tuesday against the Suns due to a cut on the pinkie finger of his left hand. At this point, the 20-58 Spurs are playing for ping pong balls, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Collins forced to the sidelines for Tuesday's game. If he can't give it a go, Sandro Mamukelashvili would likely get a spot start, and he'd make sense as a streamer. Gorgui Dieng would also see an increased role sans Collins. Stay tuned.... Spurs' Zach Collins: Fouls out Sunday
Collins contributed 16 points (6-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block over 23 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 142-134 overtime win over the Kings. Collins didn't have his most efficient performance and dealt with foul trouble all game long, though he still posted a solid stat line considering he only logged 23 minutes of action. The big man is averaging 17.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game over his last 11 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Good to go Sunday
Collins (foot) isn't on the injury report for Sunday's game versus the Kings. Collins will return to the lineup Sunday after missing the previous game with a left foot injury. He will likely replace Sandro Mamukelashvili in the starting five against Sacramento.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Won't play Friday
Collins (injury management) has been ruled out of Friday's contest against the Warriors, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins is dealing with left foot soreness and the Spurs are electing to be cautious by resting their center. His next chance to return to the court is Sunday against the Kings. Expect Sandro Mamukelashvili, Dominick Barlow and Gorgui Dieng to fill in for Collins.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Great defensive performance in loss
Collins finished Wednesday's 128-117 loss to the Jazz with 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt), eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals in 31 minutes. For the second time in his last four games, Collins was able to replicate the three-steal, two-block line, which was where most of his fantasy value came from on the night. Collins' season-long averages don't reflect the improvement he's shown so far this month, as the Gonzaga product is averaging 17.8 points, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals in March. Though Collins remains at risk of being rested for a game or two over the final week and a half of the season, he should be a strong all-around producer on the occasions he's active.... See More ... Spurs' Zach Collins: Top scorer and rebounder in return
Collins totaled 21 points (8-18 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds and four assists across 31 minutes during Sunday's 137-93 loss to the Celtics. Collins returned to the starting lineup after missing Friday's game with a biceps injury while leading the Spurs in scoring and rebounds en route to a near double-double in a losing effort. Collins has surpassed the 20-point mark five times this year.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Avoids Sunday's injury report
Collins (biceps) isn't listed on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Celtics, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins sat out Friday's affair in DC, but he'll suit up for two of the four games on San Antonio's road trip. Collins has performed admirably since grabbing hold of a permanent starting job following the Spurs' trade of Jakob Poeltl at the deadline, averaging 16.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 blocks-plus-steals over 28.8 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Downgraded to out
Collins (biceps) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Wizards, Ty Jager of FanSided.com reports. Collins will be sidelined for the second time over the past three games due to a biceps issue. In his absence, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Gorgui Dieng and Dominick Barlow are candidates for increased role.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Questionable Friday
Collins is questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards due to a bruised right bicep, Ty Jager of FanSided.com reports. Collins has missed three of the past nine games due to bicep and ankle issues plus rest. Fantasy managers must be wary down the stretch, as Collins may continue to take games off. He's been productive when available, though, averaging 18.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals this month.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Gets starting nod
Collins is in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus Milwaukee, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Collins will replace Sandro Mamukelashvili in the starting lineup Wednesday after sitting out the previous game. Collins is averaging 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 28.3 minutes across his 21 starts this season.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Not listed on injury report
Collins (rest) isn't listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Bucks, Ty Jager of Fansided's Air Alamo reports. Collins took a seat for the first half of San Antonio's back-to-back set for rest purposes, but he'll be back in action Wednesday. The versatile center has appeared in seven of the Spurs' first 10 March contests, averaging 19.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals in 29.6 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Resting Tuesday
Collins has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans due to rest purposes, Ty Jager of Fansided's Air Alamo reports. Collins hasn't played in both halves of back-to-back sets in recent weeks, and he'll be one of several Spurs held out for Tuesday's matchup. Sandro Mamukelashvili should see increased run for San Antonio, while it wouldn't be surprising to see Collins back in action for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Zach Collins: Continues strong run of performances
Collins finished Sunday's 126-118 win over the Hawks with 19 points (8-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks across 31 minutes. Collins is in the midst of his best run of production of the season; he's now averaging 22.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 three-pointers, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals on 56.1 percent shooting from the field and 100 percent shooting from the free-throw line over his last four outings. In between those games, he sat out the second half of a back-to-back set Thursday against Dallas, and he could be at risk of sitting at least once during the Spurs' upcoming four-game week as the team continues to rest its top players liberally as the season winds down. San Antonio opens the week with a back-to-back set Tuesday in New Orleans and Wednesday in Milwaukee, so Collins could be in line to rest for one of those contests.... See More ... See Less
