Bucks' Luca Vildoza: Signing with Milwaukee
Vildoza (foot) is expected to finalize a two-year contract with the Bucks in the coming days, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Vildoza, the 2020 Spanish ACB League Finals MVP, signed a four-year deal with the Knicks last May and was expected to make his NBA debut this fall, but he suffered a foot injury during Las Vegas Summer League play and later underwent surgery. The Knicks ultimately waived him in October, but after months of recovery, Vildoza has been given a clean bill of health. Once the deal is finalized, Vildoza will likely require some ramp-up time, so he presumably won't be ready to play for the Bucks until the postseason. The 2022-23 campaign will thus count as his rookie season, assuming he remains on the Milwaukee roster.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Luca Vildoza: Waived by Knicks
The Knicks waived Vildoza (ankle) on Sunday.
After joining New York on a non-guaranteed four-year, $13.6 million deal last May, the 25-year-old point guard will leave the Knicks without having even played in a preseason game. Vildoza competed for the Argentinian national team at the Olympics in Tokyo before joining the Knicks' summer league squad, but he sprained his right ankle in his lone appearance in Las Vegas. The injury was still plaguing him heading into training camp, as he arrived in New York sporting a boot on his right foot. With Vildoza still several weeks away from returning to the court, the Knicks opted to cut him loose rather than having him tie up a roster spot.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Luca Vildoza: Sports boot to training camp
Vildoza (foot) is in a walking boot and didn't practice Tuesday, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reports.
Vildoza missed the Knicks' final three Summer League games as he dealt with a sore right foot. New York lured the Argentinian away from the EuroLeague club Baskonia this offseason by signing him to a four-year, $13.6 million deal. The 26-year-old is viewed as a long-term prospect. However, it appears the Knicks' timeline for championship contention has been sped up with the emergence of Julius Randle and the acquisition of Kemba Walker, which may make Vildoza an expendable commodity if he isn't able to play during the preseason.... Knicks' Luca Vildoza: En route to New York
Vildoza is scheduled to report to New York on Friday to join the Knicks ahead of their first-round playoff series with the Hawks, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.
The Knicks lured Vildoza away from the EuroLeague club Baskonia earlier this month, inking him to a four-year, $13.6 million deal. Due to travel restrictions, Vildoza has yet to take part in a formal practice with his new team, so the Knicks likely won't be counting on him having much of a role, if any, during the postseason. The 25-year-old guard is viewed as more of a long-term prospect for New York.... See More ... See Less
