Cavaliers' RJ Nembhard: Signs two-way contract
Nembhard signed a two-way contact with the Cavaliers on Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Cleveland upgraded Nembhard from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal at the end of March, but he was waived Thursday to make room for Moses Brown. However, the undrafted rookie out of TCU will rejoin the organization via another two-way contract. Across 13 appearances this season, Nembhard has averaged 1.2 points, 0.9 assists and 0.5 rebounds in 4.6 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
RJ Nembhard: Let go by Cavs
The Cavaliers waived Nembhard on Thursday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Though Cleveland upgraded Nembhard from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal just one week ago, the undrafted rookie out of TCU will now lose his roster spot entirely. The Cavaliers elected to fill the opening on the 15-man roster by upgrading two-way player Moses Brown to a standard deal, which makes Brown eligible for the play-in tournament and postseason. Cavaliers' RJ Nembhard: Gets small bench role in return
Nembhard (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) played 12 minutes in Sunday's 144-99 win over the Raptors, finishing with four points (2-4 FG), six assists and one rebound.
Upgraded to available prior to Sunday's contest after missing just one game, Nembhard made the most of his abbreviated time on the court. All of the Cavaliers' bench players' minutes were inflated due to the blowout, however, so Nembhard could find himself with a smaller role -- if not left out of the rotation entirely -- in Cleveland's next game Tuesday in New Orleans....
