  • Dariq Whitehead: Waived by Thunder

The Thunder waived Whitehead on Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Whitehead was snatched up by the Thunder on Oct. 17 on an Exhibit 10 deal in order to secure his G League rights. He's poised to join the Oklahoma City Blue following this move.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Pops for 17 points in loss

Whitehead logged 17 points (5-13 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes during Thursday's 105-90 loss to the Timberwolves. Whitehead scored double-digits for just the third time all season, playing at least 15 minutes for the third straight game. While this was an encouraging performance by Whitehead, it remains to be seen whether he will stick as a consistent part of the rotation for the remainder of the season.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Rejoins parent club

Brooklyn recalled Whitehead from the G League's Long Island Nets on Tuesday. Whitehead has made just one two-minute appearance for the parent club since the All-Star break, but he could get a longer look in the final weeks of the season while Brooklyn is in player-evaluation mode.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Off injury report for Tuesday

Whitehead (knee) is off the injury report for Tuesday's game against San Antonio. Whitehead is set to return from a three-game absence Tuesday due to a right knee injury. The 20-year-old hasn't appeared in an NBA game since Jan. 22, and there is no guarantee that he'll see the floor during his return.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Another absence coming

Whitehead (knee) won't play in Saturday's game versus the Pistons, Meghan Triplett of YES Network reports. Whitehead hasn't made an NBA appearance since Jan. 22. His next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with the Spurs.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Out Wednesday with knee injury

Whitehead is listed as out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder due to a right knee injury. Whitehead likely sustained the knee injury during his most recent appearance in the G League for the Long Island Nets on Tuesday, when he was limited to playing 13 minutes in a 119-117 win over the Westchester Knicks. The second-year wing's absence for Wednesday's game won't affect head coach Jordi Fernandez's rotation.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Recalled to NBA

Brooklyn recalled Whitehead from the G League's Long Island Nets on Tuesday. Whitehead is coming off an impressive performance in Tuesday's 111-85 win over Windy City in the G League, finishing with 20 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes. He'll be available for Wednesday's game against the 76ers to provide some emergency depth for the team.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Iffy for Sunday

Whitehead (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jazz, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports. Whitehead has missed the past two games for Brooklyn, but he's been upgraded to day-to-day. If he does get the green light to play, Whitehead won't be guaranteed any minutes as he's been out of the rotation for most of the season.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Still out Friday

Whitehead (concussion) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Denver, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Whitehead remains in the league's concussion protocol and will miss his second consecutive game Friday. The forward hasn't been able to consistently crack the rotation this season, during which he has averaged 4.2 points across 6.0 minutes per contest in five regular-season appearances.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Back from G League

Brooklyn recalled Whitehead from the G League's Long Island Nets on Monday, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Whitehead will be available for Monday's game against the Pacers, and given that Brooklyn will be down several players due to injury, he could find himself in the rotation.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Back from G League

Brooklyn recalled Whitehead from the G League's Long Island Nets on Monday, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports. With Dennis Schroder's (ankle) status for Monday's game against the Warriors uncertain, Whitehead has been called up to provide some emergency depth in the backcourt.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Team option exercised

The Nets exercised their 2025-26 team option for Whitehead on Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. The Nets also picked up Noah Clowney's option. Whitehead isn't a rotation player for Brooklyn just yet, but the Nets clearly value him as a developmental project.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Starting in Summer League

Whitehead is in the starting lineup for the Nets' Summer League game against the Clippers on Sunday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. Whitehead appears to have made a full recovery from a procedure he had in January to address a left shin stress reaction, and has started in both the Nets Summer League games this far. Whitehead played 28 minutes Friday against Indiana and generated five points (1-12 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, an assist, three steals and two blocks.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: With NBA club Wednesday

Whitehead is available for Wednesday's game against the Bucks, NBA freelance journalist Billy Reinhardt reports. The Nets are resting Nic Claxton (ankle), Cameron Johnson (knee) and Spencer Dinwiddie (not injury related) on Wednesday, while Lonnie Walker (hamstring) and Ben Simmons (back) remain out, so Whitehead, Armoni Brooks, Noah Clowney and Keon Johnson will all be available versus Milwaukee and could crack the rotation. Whitehead has made just one NBA appearance this season, recording one point and one block in three minutes during a blowout win over Miami on Nov. 25.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Won't play Saturday

Whitehead has been ruled out for Saturday's matchup against the Magic due to right foot injury maintenance, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Whitehead's NBA debut was delayed while rehabbing from offseason foot surgery. He's been cleared to play in games, but the Nets will continue to be cautious with the rookie, meaning periodic maintenance days could be a regular occurrence throughout the campaign.

Whitehead contributed one point (1-2 FT) and one block across three minutes during Saturday's 112-97 victory over the Heat. After being recalled from the G League's Long Island Nets prior to Saturday, Whitehead made his NBA debut. He saw his limited run in garbage time and doesn't look like he'll be a regular contributor to the rotation anytime soon.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Back with Brooklyn

Whitehead (foot) was recalled from the G League's Long Island Nets on Wednesday, freelance NBA journalist Billy Reinhardt reports. Whitehead had already been ruled out for Brooklyn's game against the Clippers on Wednesday, and it seems likely that he'll remain out despite being recalled. However, he progressed to 5-on-5 work in practice last week and could be nearing a return from his foot injury.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Progresses to 2-on-2

Coach Jacque Vaughn said Sunday that Whitehead (foot) has progressed to playing 2-on-2 with coaches, Evan Barnes of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Whitehead didn't make any appearances during preseason action while rehabbing from offseason foot surgery. When healthy, the rookie will presumably get some work in the G League before he's given a chance with the NBA club.

  • Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Will miss preseason opener

Whitehead (foot) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason opener against the Lakers, Evan Barnes of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Whitehead has been limited to begin training camp while working his way back from offseason foot surgery. The rookie was a heralded high school recruit, but he fell down draft boards due to a lingering foot injury during his lone season at Duke. It's unclear when Whitehead will be cleared for game action, but the Nets will presumably be cautious, meaning the No. 22 overall pick doesn't have much fantasy value to open the 2023-24 campaign.
