Mathias was waived by the Sixers on Monday.

The 25-year-old was on a two-way contract and appeared in eight games this season, averaging 6.0 points and 1.6 assists in 15.4 minutes. Mathias is now in search of a new team and could end up in the G League.

Mathias will come off the bench Tuesday against the Heat, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.

The 25-year-old started the past two games and averaged 40 minutes with the 76ers short-handed, but Ben Simmons (knee) is back in action Tuesday. Philadelphia still has six players sidelined due to the COVID-19 protocols, so Mathias could still play more than the 7.5 minutes he averaged in his four previous appearances this season.

Mathias is starting Saturday's game against the Nuggets, Derek Bodner of The Athletic reports.

The 76ers are expected to play with seven players Saturday, so Mathias will start amongst the myraid of absences. He saw 13 minutes Thursday, recording three points, one rebound and one assist.

Mathias and second-round rookie Paul Reed will be the 76ers' two two-way players when the team reports to training camp next month. A 6-foot-4 wing, Mathias is heading into his third professional season and has yet to make his NBA debut after going undrafted out of Purdue in 2018. He emerged as a key contributor in the G League last season with the Texas Legends, averaging 18.1 points and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 39.5 percent from three-point range.

Mathias scored 22 points (7-17 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 2-3 FT) and grabbed 14 rebounds in Friday's win over Agua Caliente.

Mathias set a season high with 14 boards en route to his second double-double of the season. He has scored at least 20 points in each of his last three games, shooting 54.8 percent from the field over that span.

Mathias knocked down six three-pointers Wednesday, finishing with 25 points (8-12 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT) in a win over Austin.

Mathias has drained 10 treys over his last two games to push his total to 138 on the season. That ranks second in the G League behind the 152 converted by Mychal Mulder of Sioux Falls. With Mulder now with Golden State in the NBA, Mathias has an excellent chance to take over the league lead in his next few games.

Mathias scored 20 points (8-11 FG, 4-7 3Pt) in Saturday's win over Northern Arizona.

The strong shooting night was a welcome relief for Mathias as he had made only 24 of 74 attempts from the field (32.4 percent) over his previous six games. The undrafted rookie is shooting only 43.1 percent from the field this season, but he has made 38.7 percent of his shots from beyond the arc and ranks second in the G League with 132 three-pointers.

Mathias scored 25 points (6-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 4-5 FT) while collecting 13 rebounds and five assists in a loss to Austin on Saturday.

Mathias enjoyed arguably his finest all-around game of the season, leading the Legends in scoring and rebounding en route to his first double-double of the campaign. The undrafted rookie also drilled a trio of three-pointers to pull within one of the G League lead.

Mathias tallied 21 points (7-12 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and grabbed six rebounds in a win over College Park on Sunday.

After a slow start to January, Mathias appears to be getting back on track, averaging 24 points over his last three games. The undrafted rookie is tied for second in the G League with 100 three-point makes on the season.

The scoring outburst was a positive sign following a three-game slump during which the undrafted rookie totaled only 22 points on 8-of-32 shooting from the field. Mathias also knocked down a trio of three-pointers Monday after going 0-for-15 from deep over his previous two games.

Mathias has been on a roll over his last four games, averaging 23.3 points on 50 percent shooting while converting 18 of 36 attempts from deep. On the season, the Purdue University product is averaging 19.5 points while shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range.

Mathias tallied 29 points (8-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT) and eight assists in Tuesday's loss to South Bay.

Mathias logged 39 minutes in the contest and fell one point shy of his season high in scoring. The undrafted rookie has drilled at least four three-pointers in three consecutive contests and is shooting 40.8 percent from deep while averaging 19.0 points on the season.

Mathias rebounded from a subpar performance Friday to post his third game of 23-plus points in his last four contests. The undrafted rookie leads Texas with per-game averages of 19.1 points and 3.6 three-pointers this season.

Mathias led Texas in scoring for the second straight game, totaling 53 points and 10 treys over those two contests. Since a 2-for-12 showing Nov. 30, the University of Purdue product has converted 23-of-40 field goals (57.5 percent) while averaging 22.7 points per contest.

The 30-point outburst was the second for Mathias in his last five games. The undrafted rookie out of Purdue is averaging 19.2 points and 4.8 rebounds through 12 contests this season.

Mathias poured in 30 points (11-15 FG, 8-10 3PT) and contributed nine rebounds, five assists and three steals in a victory over Sioux Falls on Wednesday.

Mathias was red-hot in the win, drilling eight of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc. The rookie entered the contest having made only 33.3 percent of his three-point tries on the season, so it remains to be seen whether Wednesday's performance was a turning point or an aberration. Mathias was a solid three-point shooter in his four-year stint at Purdue, knocking down 41.9 percent of his attempts from deep.

Mathias racked up 21 points (8-15 FG, 4-7 3PT, 1-1 FT) along with five rebounds and three steals in a victory over Oklahoma City on Saturday.

It was a nice bounceback effort by Mathias, who hit only 6-of-17 field goals in his previous contest. The rookie is averaging 19.8 points and 3.3 treys through six games this season.

Mathias scored 15 points (6-17 FG, 3-10 3PT) and notched six rebounds along with six assists in a loss to Stockton on Wednesday.

Mathias entered the game having converted 18 of his previous 32 field goal attempts (56 percent), but he had trouble knocking down shots in Wednesday's loss. Nonetheless, the former Boilermaker found other ways to contribute, setting season highs in assists and boards.

Mathias accounted for 19 points (7-15 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 37 minutes during Friday's loss to the Hustle.

Mathias provided a nice all-around line Friday, though he also finished with a minus-17 net rating. While it's unlikely that Mathias will be able to replicate Friday's two-block, two-steal defensive performance consistently, though his 37 minutes of run bodes well for his role going forward.

Mathias has been waived by the Mavericks on Tuesday, Bobby Karalla of the Mavericks' official site reports.

The Purdue product went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft after averaging 12.0 points and 4.1 rebounds during his senior season. Assuming he clears waivers, Mathias could likely end up with the Mavericks' G League affiliate once the season begins.
