Late last month, Jets defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson was involved in a car accident where he was charged with careless driving and failure to maintain his lane, but escaped with minor injuries after his car flipped.

Earlier this week, he talked about the accident and its aftermath.

"With that situation, all I can say is I'm grateful that everybody is fine," Wilkerson said, via the NY Daily News. "Nobody was hurt, seriously injured. It was a tragic thing to happen, but I'm just happy that everybody's okay and I'm glad, I'm blessed to be here."

Wilkerson was hesitant to discuss the details of the crash, but the newspaper noted that he has a noticeable scar on his neck from the accident and that his right forearm needed stitches. Wilkerson said he has a few bumps and bruises, but Jets doctors have cleared him to participate in training camp.

You’ll recall that Wilkerson, who recorded 49 tackles and three sacks during his rookie year, flipped his 2011 Dodge Charger after he hit another car on the Garden State Parkway at 4:29 a.m. on June 23. He crawled out of his car and was taken to a Newark hospital.

"I'm looking forward to going up to Cortland with my teammates [for training camp]," Wilkerson said. "I haven't been up there. And just to get the pads back on and to know that the season is almost here, I'm all for it. I'm happy. I can't wait until camp starts."
