Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen performed well for much of his 2014 starting debut Sunday against Detroit, but faded down the stretch in yet another loss.
Clausen completed just one pass for one yard in the first two possessions, but picked it up in the second quarter and finished the half 14 of 23 for 106 yards and an 11-yard touchdown pass to featured back Matt Forte. He added a 20-yard scoring strike to Alshon Jeffery in the third, but hit on just 4 of 10 for 25 yards and a critical interception in a fourth quarter that doomed his team to defeat. He finished 23 of 39 for 181 yards.
If Clausen is given the starting nod in Week 17, as expected, he will do so in a meaningless game at Minnesota.
