In a few weeks, once the games count in the standings, Sarah Thomas will become the NFL's first female official, and Jen Welter will become the NFL's first assistant coach. On Saturday, the two trailblazers shared a word on the field before the Cardinals hosted the Chiefs in a Week 1 preseason matchup.

The league announced that Thomas would become a full-time official in April, and Cardinals coach Bruce Arians added Welter to staff in July.
