In April 2015, Erica Kinsman filed a civil lawsuit against Jameis Winston alleging sexual assault in 2012. The quarterback subsequently filed a countersuit alleging defamation. Those lawsuits appear to be nearing their end.

On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Times' Matt Baker reported that the two sides reached a "compromise," citing court documents:

Winston and the woman who accused him of sexual assault have "reached a compromise with contingencies" in the suit, according to court documents filed Wednesday. The two parties expect to file joint motions for dismissing the case within 20 days, according to the document.

Attorneys for both parties said separately that the case was "resolved to the satisfaction of the parties" but declined further comment.

Kinsman accused Winston of sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment and inflicting emotional distress from an incident in 2012 when they were students at Florida State. In December 2013, state attorney Willie Meggs announced that his office would not press charges against Winston, who claimed the two engaged in consensual sex.

A December 2013 CBS News investigation into the allegations revealed "conflicting stories about the sexual interaction, and an 11-month lag between the initial report and when police interviewed witnesses."

Kinsman filed the civil lawsuit against Winston two weeks before the Buccaneers selected him with the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Winston's countersuit came in May 2015, with the quarterback calling the accusations "false, defamatory ... and have maliciously and impermissibly interfered with Mr. Winston's business and personal relationships," per the Tampa Bay Times.

In January, Kinsman settled a Title IX lawsuit against Florida State University for $950,000. She also appeared in "The Hunting Ground," a documentary about sexual assaults on college campuses.
