Rams execute sweet fake punt for first down, then get FG blocked
Johnny Hekker would apparently make a pretty terrific QB.
The St. Louis Rams, down by two scores in the second half against the Green Bay Packers, needed to make something happen when facing 4th-and-5.
Who did they turn to? Not rookie running back Todd Gurley. Not Tavon Austin. Not Brian Quick, Kenny Britt or Jared Cook.
Johnny Hekker.

It was a pretty slick play by Hekker, rolling out to his right and fidning a receiver back over the middle. He got some praise from a fellow punter as was as some NFL writers.

First time I’ve ever seen a punter pushed out of pocket and calmly go through his progressions on a fake. Take a bow, Johnny Hekker.

Here's Hekker's new career passing line.

This being the Rams, they promptly got another fourth down and tried a field goal, but Greg Zuerlein had his 50-yard attempt blocked.
