Who's Playing
New York @ Los Angeles
Current Records: New York 4-8; Los Angeles 7-5
What to Know
The Los Angeles Chargers will be returning home after a two-game road trip. They will take on the New York Giants at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Los Angeles should still be riding high after a win, while New York will be looking to get back in the win column.
While not quite a landslide, the contest between the Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals last week was still a pretty decisive one as Los Angeles wrapped it up with a 41-22 victory on the road. It was another big night for Los Angeles' QB Justin Herbert, who passed for three TDs and 317 yards on 35 attempts.
Los Angeles' defense was a presence as well, as it collected two interceptions and two fumbles. The picks came courtesy of CB Chris Harris and CB Michael Davis.
There was early excitement for the Giants after they claimed the game's first points last week, but it was the Miami Dolphins who ended up claiming the real prize. New York came up short against Miami, falling 20-9. QB Mike Glennon had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with only 4.25 yards per passing attempt.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. K Graham Gano delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Los Angeles is the favorite in this one, with an expected 9.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 2-5 against the spread when favored.
Los Angeles is now 7-5 while New York sits at 4-8. A pair of offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Chargers enter the matchup with 27 passing touchdowns, good for third best in the league. Less enviably, the Giants are stumbling into the game with the second fewest overall offensive touchdowns in the NFL, having accrued only 18 on the season. So the cards are definitely stacked against New York.
