WATCH: Derek Carr gives Raiders late lead with perfectly-placed fade
Derek Carr gave the Raiders a late lead when he found Michael Crabtree on a fade route, but the Chargers would tie the game to send it to overtime.

In a game they had no business winning, the Raiders stole a late lead from the Chargers thanks to an opportunistic defense and Derek Carr's right arm.
The Chargers, with possession of the football, held a five-point lead with just under five minutes remaining in the game. But the Chargers fumbled possession away, as David Johnson got stripped by Raiders linebacker Malcolm Smith. Benson Mayowa scooped up the loose ball and nearly scored on the return, getting tackled just short of the end zone.
Carr quickly gave the Raiders the lead, throwing a perfect fade to Michael Crabtree.
Very few quarterbacks can execute the perfect fade route throw. Derek Carr is one of those quarterbacks. #SDvsOAK https://t.co/YcWySynkrC

The Raiders then converted on the two-point conversion, extending their lead to three points. That two-point conversion came in handy, as the Chargers ended up sending the game to overtime with a late field goal.
