  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Ends season on high note

Boswell converted both of his field-goal attempts while making all three of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 28-14 win over the Browns on Sunday. Boswell had missed at least one field-goal attempt in three of his four appearances leading up to Sunday's regular-season finale, but he was perfect against Cleveland to help the Steelers finish the year with a winning record. The 31-year-old missed five games in 2022 due to his groin injury, but he appeared in 12 matchups and made 20 of 28 field-goal attempts while converting all 18 of his extra-point tries. Boswell made 92.3 percent of his field-goal attempts over the three seasons prior to 2022 and re-signed with the Steelers on a four-year deal in August, so he'll likely continue to serve as Pittsburgh's kicker next year despite his 71.4 percent field-goal conversion rate this season.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Makes four kicks in primetime

Boswell converted three of four field-goal attempts while making his lone extra-point try during the Steelers' 16-13 win over Baltimore on Sunday. Boswell had a 48-yard field-goal attempt hit the right upright late in the second quarter Sunday, but he managed to make three total field goals, including a 51-yarder in the third quarter. Although he matched his highest total of field goals made in a single game this season, he's now missed at least one field-goal attempt in three of his four appearances since returning from a groin injury. During those four games, he's made six of 10 field-goal attempts while converting all seven of his extra-point tries.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Makes two field goals Saturday

Boswell converted two of four field-goal attempts while making his lone extra-point try during the Steelers' 13-10 win over Las Vegas on Saturday. Boswell was perfect on four kicks in Week 15, but he was kicking in cold and windy conditions during Saturday's matchup against the Raiders. He missed a 43-yard attempt wide left in the second quarter and missed a 52-yarder wide left in the third. However, he did just enough to lead Pittsburgh to the narrow Week 16 win.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Perfect in Carolina

Boswell converted his lone field-goal attempt while making all three of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 24-16 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Boswell's lone field-goal attempt was blocked last week, but he drilled a 50-yarder in the fourth quarter Sunday to put the Steelers up by two scores late in the game. Over his two appearances since returning from injury, he's made one of two field-goal attempts while converting all five of his extra-point tries.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Makes two extra-point tries

Boswell missed his lone field-goal attempt while making both of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 16-14 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. Boswell returned to the field Sunday after missing the last five games due to a groin injury, but he had his lone field-goal attempt blocked during the narrow loss to Baltimore. However, it was encouraging to see him convert both of his extra-point tries. Over eight appearances this year, the 31-year-old has converted 12 of 17 field-goal attempts while making all 11 of his extra-point tries.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Returns from IR

The Steelers reinstated Boswell (groin) from injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Steelers waived Matthew Wright in a corresponding move, setting the stage for Boswell to step back in as the team's kicker Sunday against the Ravens. Given that he received a lucrative contract extension in August that leaves him Baltimore's Justin Tucker as the NFL's highest-paid kickers, Boswell was always expected to get his job back once he healed up from the right groin injury that has sideline him since Week 8. The Steelers received good production while Boswell was out, as Wright converted 12 of his 14 field-goal attempts and all seven of his extra-point tries during his four-game run with the team.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Practicing again

Pittsburgh designated Boswell (groin) for return from injured reserve Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Boswell has evidently shown enough progress in his recovery from the right groin injury that has sidelined him since Week 8 to resume practicing, but it's unclear if he'll be cleared to rejoin the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens. The Steelers have a 21-day window to evaluate Boswell for a return to the roster, so the team can wait until late December to decide whether to activate him or keep him on IR for the rest of the season. Matthew Wright has served as the Steelers' kicker in the past four games, converting 12 of 14 field-goal tries and all seven of his extra-point attempts.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Lands on IR

Pittsburgh placed Boswell (groin) on injured reserve Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. The Steelers' decision to sign another kicker (Matthew Wright) off the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday already seemed to signal that Boswell wasn't on track to play Sunday against the Saints, but Boswell's move to IR means that he'll be sidelined for at least four games on account of the groin injury. Boswell, who sat out the Steelers' Week 8 loss to the Eagles before Pittsburgh went on bye Week 9, won't be eligible to return until the team's Dec. 11 matchup with the Ravens in Week 14.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Sits out practice again

Boswell (groin) didn't practice Thursday, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Boswell picked up a groin injury ahead of Pittsburgh's Week 8 loss to the Eagles and has now missed his second straight practice to open Week 10. The 31-year-old's inability to participate coming off the Steelers' Week 9 bye week is a very discouraging sign for his availability, and he'll have just one more practice to increase his activity before Sunday's contest against New Orleans. Boswell converted 12 of his 16 field-goal attempts and all nine point-after tries over the first seven games of the season, and his absence would leave Matthew Wright, who was signed off the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday, to take over as Pittsburgh's starting kicker

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Fails to practice Wednesday

Boswell (groin) didn't practice Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Boswell was sidelined for Week 8 due to a groin issue and still isn't ready to practice following the team's Week 9 bye. The veteran kicker will have two more opportunities to participate before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Saints, but the Steelers already seem to be preparing for him to miss the contest. Pittsburgh signed Matthew Wright to the 53-man roster Wednesday, which suggests the team doesn't believe Boswell will play Week 10.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Downgraded to out

Boswell (groin) will not play Sunday against the Eagles, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Steelers don't have a kicker on the practice squad, so it'll be interesting to see who eventually gets signed and elevated to the active roster. Boswell is currently tied for the sixth-most field-goal attempts this season, but he's also tied for the third worst field-goal percentage (75) among kickers with at least 10 attempts.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Converts both kicks

Boswell made his lone field-goal attempt while converting his lone extra-point try during the Steelers' 16-10 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Boswell put the Steelers on the board with a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter Sunday and drilled an extra-point try later in the quarter, but the two teams were held scoreless during the second half. The 31-year-old has now converted 12 of 16 field-goal attempts while making all nine of his extra-point tries this season.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Perfect against Buccaneers

Boswell converted both of his field-goal attempts while making both of his extra-point tries during Sunday's 20-18 win over Tampa Bay. After missing two kicks during last week's loss in windy Buffalo, Boswell was perfect against the Buccaneers to help lead the Steelers to the narrow victory. The 31-year-old has had plenty of work from 50-plus yards to begin the season but has made just 73.3 percent of his total field-goal attempts over the first six weeks of the campaign.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Misses two kicks in windy Buffalo

Boswell converted one of his three field-goal attempts during the Steelers' 38-3 loss to the Bills on Sunday. The Steelers struggled to generate much offensive production Sunday, and Boswell missed 33- and 45-yard field-goal attempts since the wind was swirling in Buffalo. The 31-year-old had made eight of his 10 field-goal attempts over the first four weeks of the season, so he should be more effective when the Steelers play in more favorable weather conditions.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Perfect in loss

Boswell converted both of his field-goal attempts while making both of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 24-20 loss to the Jets on Sunday. Boswell missed a 49-yard attempt during last week's loss to the Browns, but he was perfect on two field-goal attempts from over 50 yards against the Jets. After making a career-high eight field goals from 50-plus yards last year, the 31-year-old has already converted four kicks from that distance over the first four weeks of the 2022 season.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Misses 49-yard attempt in loss

Boswell made one of two field-goal attempts while converting both of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to Cleveland on Thursday. Boswell was perfect on two field-goal attempts last week, but he missed a 49-yard attempt wide right during the first quarter of Thursday's primetime matchup. Although the 31-year-old has made just six of eight field-goal attempts over the first three weeks of the season, he's had plenty of long-range work since the Steelers' offense hasn't been particularly efficient.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Perfect in Week 2

Boswell converted both of his field-goal attempts during the Steelers' 17-14 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. Neither team was able to generate much offensive production during Sunday's Week 2 matchup, but Boswell put the Steelers on the board by making a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter. He also drilled a 52-yarder in the third quarter but didn't account for any more scoring in the narrow loss. The 31-year-old made a career-high eight field goals on nine attempts from 50-plus yards last season, and he's already converted two of three attempts from that range over the first two weeks of the 2022 season.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Drills game-winner in OT

Boswell made three of four field-goal attempts while converting both of his extra-point tries during Sunday's 23-20 overtime win over the Bengals. Special teams became an issue for both squads late in Sunday's season opener, as Evan McPherson had an extra-point try blocked with zero seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime before missing a 29-yarder in overtime. Boswell was perfect over his four kicks in regulation, but he had a 55-yard field-goal attempt hit the left upright with 2:27 remaining in the extra period. However, he had a chance to redeem himself later and drilled a 53-yard attempt as time expired in overtime to give the Steelers the season-opening win. Boswell had a career-high 40 field-goal attempts in 2021, and he certainly saw plenty of work during Sunday's matchup to begin the 2022 campaign.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Busy in preseason finale

Boswell converted four of his five field-goal attempts while making his lone extra-point try during Sunday's 19-9 preseason win over the Lions. Boswell had a 29-yard field-goal attempt blocked early in the third quarter Sunday, but he was otherwise perfect while accounting for most of Pittsburgh's scoring during the final game of the preseason. The 31-year-old had missed his only other preseason field-goal attempt ahead of Sunday's matchup, but he enters the regular season as the clear starting kicker for the Steelers after agreeing to a four-year, $20 million extension with Pittsburgh in early August.
