  • Trey Ragas: Let go from practice squad

Ragas (undisclosed) was cut from the Rams' practice squad injured list with an injury settlement Thursday. Ragas joined the Rams in July after spending last season with the Raiders, making one regular-season appearance. After failing to make Las Vegas' 53-man roster, the Rams signed Ragas to their practice squad and ultimately placed him on the injured list Sept. 15. Ragas will now be able to pursue opportunities with other team's once he is healthy.

  • Trey Ragas: Goes on injured list

  • Trey Ragas: Goes onto practice squad

Ragas cleared waivers and reverted to the Rams' practice squad Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old back wasn't able to make enough of an impression on his coaches to earn a spot on Los Angeles' initial 53-man roster, but he'll at least be able to stick with the organization this year. The NFL sophomore managed an impressive 6.0 yards per carry over four years at Louisiana and has a good build for an NFL running back. Nevertheless, it would probably take an injury to one of the halfbacks that did make the Rams' roster for Ragas to see game action in 2022.

  • Trey Ragas: Unable to make 53-man roster

The Rams waived Ragas on Tuesday, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Ragas was the Rams' leading rusher during Saturday's preseason finale against the Bengals, rushing 11 times for 52 yards while securing his lone target for one yard. However, he was unable to land a role as a depth option in the team's backfield to begin the regular season.

  • Rams' Trey Ragas: Leads in rushing, fumbles in loss

Ragas rushed 11 times for 52 yards and caught his lone target for one yard in Saturday's 16-7 loss to the Bengals. He also lost a fumble. It was by far the most efficient night for a Rams running back this preseason, as no back had eclipsed 25 rushing yards in the first two preseason games before Ragas hit the field Saturday. Ragas didn't break out for any lengthy gains, topping out with a nine-yard rush, but he gained consistent yardage and easily outpaced Jake Funk's 32 yards on 12 rushes. Ragas did cough up the ball late in the third quarter, but Funk had a fumble of his own in the second. With the top three backs on the roster seemingly locked in with Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson and Kyren Williams, Ragas and Funk are battling for the No. 4 role in the backfield, which can have value with the oft-injured backs in front of them. Ragas outperformed Funk in their final showcase before the season opener, which may be enough to leap Funk on the depth chart.

  • Rams' Trey Ragas: Finds end zone

Ragas rushed six times for 14 yards and touchdown in Friday's 24-20 preseason loss against the Texans. For the second straight preseason game, the Rams found little success running the ball, and Ragas was the only back to find pay dirt, punching in a seven-yard score with 5:11 to play to give the Rams a temporary lead. None of the other backs bunched together behind starters Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson and rookie Kyren Williams did much with their limited rushing attempts (a combined 8-24-0 line), which keeps the depth running-back pool for the Rams murky with just one preseason game left to go.

  • Rams' Trey Ragas: Tough sledding in win

Ragas had four carries for nine yards in Saturday's 29-22 win over the Chargers. One of a number of running backs competing for a backup role behind starters Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson, Ragas couldn't do much with his limited touches, and will likely have to breakout in one of the final two preseason games to have any chance of earning a roster spot to start the season.

Ragas has been picked up by the Rams, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Ragas was waived by the Raiders in May after signing a reserve/future contract with them this past January. • Raiders' Trey Ragas: Three touches in NFL debut

Ragas took his only carry for nine yards and caught both of his targets for six yards in Sunday's 48-9 loss to the Chiefs. Ragas was called up from the Raiders' practice squad ahead of Sunday's tilt, as fellow running back Jalen Richard landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier in the week. With Kenyan Drake (ankle) on injured reserve, Ragas could continue to provide depth behind starter Josh Jacobs and Peyton Barber if Richard is forced to miss additional time.

Ragas was elevated to the Raiders' active roster Saturday. Ragas will get a shot with the active roster Sunday against the Chiefs. The Raiders waived Ragas from their practice squad Monday. • Raiders' Trey Ragas: Elevated to active roster

Ragas was promoted to the Raiders' active roster prior to its Week 1 matchup against the Ravens, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Josh Jacobs is also active, but he is battling an illness so the team is promoting Ragas as insurance for its backfield. Ragas was an undrafted free agent in 2021 and earned a spot on the practice squad after posting 102 yards on 28 preseason carries.

  • Raiders' Trey Ragas: Joins Raiders as UDFA

Ragas is signing with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent Friday. Ragas had at least eight touchdowns in each of his four seasons with Louisiana, but after logging a pedestrian 4.68-second 40-yard dash at his pro day, there wasn't much chance of the 5-foot-10 tailback being drafted. Though undeniably talented between the tackles, it's fair to question whether Ragas' skill set will translate to the NFL level.
