Thompson has seemingly recovered from the knee injury that led the Vikings to waiving him with a failed physical designation back in April. The 25-year-old last appeared in a game during the 2023 season, when he recorded seven tackles (five solo) across 15 regular-season games with Minnesota and will now look to catch on with a new team.

Thompson (knee) reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve Thursday after going unclaimed off waivers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Thompson has spent all of training camp on the active/PUP list due to a knee injury he sustained in early January. Now that he's on IR, Thompson will be forced to sit out the entire 2024 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Minnesota.
