Whitehead was signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in May of 2023 but parted ways with the organization in September that year with an injury settlement. Nearly two years later, the safety out of Delaware is looking to latch onto a team's training camp roster to compete for a spot on the practice squad.

The safety can either be claimed by another team or revert to injured reserve. If he moves to IR, Tampa Bay can keep him or waive him with an injury settlement. Whitehead recorded 295 tackles in five seasons at the University of Delaware.
