Desir will start at cornerback Sunday against Cleveland, Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star reports.
The Colts are thin in the secondary with both Vontae Davis and Quincy Wilson out with injuries. Desir's promotion to the starting lineup probably says less about him and more about the struggles of T.J. Green since he moved to cornerback from safety.
The NFL journey has been up and down for Desir, including being a starter for Cleveland during his first two years. Now in his fourth year, he was waived by Seattle on Saturday, but the Colts are hoping they've found a special teams threat with Desir.
Desir was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday.
Desir has his fair share of game experience under his belt, which could help him find a new home. The 26-year-old formerly was a starter for Cleveland and played five games with the Chargers in 2016.
Desir was waived to clear a roster spot for wideout Isaiah Burse. Steve Williams and Trevor Williams will handle all the backup cornerback reps with Desir gone.
After moving Caraun Reid (knee) to injured reserve Tuesday, the Chargers decided to bolster their secondary by bringing back the 26-year-old cornerback. Desir's stint of unemployment was short-lived, as he was released by the Chargers on Saturday. Expect him to resume his role as a reserve cornerback.
