Allen has been placed on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports.
Allen missed time last season due to a concussion but it doesn't appear as though that is the same issue that is preventing him from practicing currently. A starter when healthy, Allen has missed six games over the past two seasons with Houston. Look for Zach Fulton and Senio Kelemete to operate as the starting guard tandem while Allen is out.
Allen remains the NFL's concussion protocol and is not expected to play Monday against Pittsburgh, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Filling in for Allen at left tackle will be Julie'n Davenport, the rookie lineman from Bucknell. Houston's offensive line has been makeshift all season due to injuries, which has slowed down the rushing attack. Beware if you're counting on a significant contribution out of running back Lamar Miller.
Allen won't return to Sunday's game against the Jags with a concussion, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
In Allen's absence, Chad Slade will likely slot in at right guard.
Allen (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday.
Allen injured his knee Sunday against the Seahawks but appears to be fine after practicing in full the past two days. Expect the lineman to suit up for Sunday's divisional showdown with the Colts.
