Jets' Mike Pennel: Signs with Jets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pennel signed a contract with the Jets on Wednesday.

Pennel was claimed by the Jets back in February but the team didn't tender him as a restricted free agent and let him hit free agency. The details of his deal are unclear but he'll be with the team for at least next season. The four-year veteran had 24 tackles, including a sack, and a forced fumble while playing in eight games for the Packers in 2016.

Pennel was claimed by the Jets on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Pennel was released by the Packers in January after serving two four-game suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He totaled 40 tackles, including one sack, in 37 games with Green Bay over the past three seasons. He'll look to secure a role as a depth defensive lineman with the Jets in 2017.

Pennel was released by the Packers on Monday.

Pennel served two separate four-game suspensions this season, and after completing his latest punishment, he needed to be activated Monday in order to suit up during the playoffs. However, the Packers declined that option by instead releasing him from their roster. In 37 games with Green Bay since 2014, Pennel totaled 40 tackles and one sack.

Packers' Mike Pennel: Suspended four games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pennel settled his appeal for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and will begin a four-game suspension, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Pennel was originally facing a year-long suspension, which would have kept him out for the rest of this season as well as the majority of the 2017 season. Now that is has been reduced to four games, the defensive tackle would be eligible to return during the playoffs, should the Packers make it that far.
