Kaare Vedvik: Joins practice squad
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Washington signed Vedvik to the practice squad Friday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

The spot on the practice squad opened up following the promotion of Joshua Garnett to the active roster. The punter/kicker hybrid's only career NFL action came in one game with the Jets last season, during which he failed to convert his sole field-goal attempt.

Kaare Vedvik: Shown door in Carolina
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Panthers waived Vedvik on Saturday, David Newton of reports.

The punter-kicker hybrid couldn't make it past cut day in Carolina, as the Panthers are rolling with Joey Slye at kicker and Joseph Charlton at punter. With plenty of uncertainty in 2020, Vedvik should be a practice squad candidate who can be called upon in a pinch.

Panthers' Kaare Vedvik: Plucked off waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Panthers claimed Vedvik off waivers Thursday, Myles Simmons of the team's official site reports.

Vedvik has the ability to act as both a kicker and punter, but the Panthers likely are taking a look at him as the latter due to regular punter Michael Palardy tearing his ACL in the offseason. Expect Vedvik to compete with undrafted rookie Joseph Charlton for that vacancy, while also potentially getting some reps at kicker behind Joey Slye.

Kaare Vedvik: Let go by Buffalo
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Bills waived Vedvik on Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of reports.

Vedvik was expected to battle incumbent Corey Bojorquez for the Bills' punting job during training camp, but he didn't show enough in the team's initial practices to stick around long. Since he also has experience as a kicker, Vedvik could draw interest from other clubs looking to add a body for either specialist role.

Bills' Kaare Vedvik: Competing for roster spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

While Corey Bojorquez is the incumbent punter and is the top guy on the depth chart, Vedvik will be given fair chance to compete for the spot, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. "I know he's improving," said special teams coach Heath Farwell of Vedvik. "Nobody works harder. So he is a guy that will do whatever he can. Kaare is a guy who's really going to push Corey Bojorquez."

Vedvik has a booming leg and can also serve as a kickoff specialist, so there's a chance he could make the team as a third kicker, even if he doesn't beat out Bojorquez. The latter was shaky at times last season, so it wouldn't be a shock if Vedvik usurps him for the role. Vedvik, a Marshall product, has been woking out diligently during the pandemic with some other Bills, namely long snapper and veteran Reid Ferguson.

Bills' Kaare Vedvik: Secures future contract
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Tuesday.

Vedvik was picked up off waivers to start the season, but his stint with the Jets didn't last long. The 25-year-old kicker missed a field goal and an extra point in Week 1's 17-16 loss to the Bills, so Gang Green quickly replaced him with Sam Ficken. Vedvik may compete with Stephen Hauschka for the Bills' starting job in 2020, but the former has an uphill battle since Hauschka had a strong end to the season and is under contract for two more years. Vedvik also can work as a punter, so he could be assigned to battle Corey Bojorquez for that role.

Kaare Vedvik: Gets practice squad call
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Bengals signed Vedvik to their practice squad Monday, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Vedvik had a couple shots to assume a starting kicking role with the Vikings and Jets this year but couldn't stick. The 25-year-old missed both his only career field-goal and extra-point attempts for the Jets in Week 1 this season.

Kaare Vedvik: Not interested in New England
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik declined an invite to work out for the Patriots, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The Patriots placed Stephen Gostkowski (hip) on injured reserve Wednesday since he'll require season-ending surgery, so they're actively searching for a replacement. Vedvik isn't interested, however, as he's working to improve his punting and kickoffs after getting cut by the Jets on Sept. 10.

Kaare Vedvik: Cut by New York
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Jets waived Vedvik on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Vedvik received his walking papers just two days after he failed to convert two kicks -- a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point attempt -- in a 17-16 loss to the Bills. The 25-year-old will now exit his third organization in a month after being traded from the Ravens to the Vikings on Aug. 11 before getting waived by Minnesota at the conclusion of the preseason. The Jets signed Sam Ficken on Tuesday to assume the vacant kicking job.

Jets' Kaare Vedvik: Competition on tap
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Jets intend to hold a kicking tryout Tuesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Vedvik failed to convert a kick during Sunday's loss to the Bills, missing a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point try. The 25-year-old failed to carve out a role in Minnesota during training camp after the Vikings acquired him from the Ravens, and he now finds himself in danger of parting ways with the Jets.

Jets' Kaare Vedvik: On hot seat after Week 1 misses
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik missed a 45-yard field goal and a PAT, failing to make a kick in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Bills.

Vedvik wasn't particularly close on either of his kicks, and the Jets opted to go for two after their second touchdown of the game rather than give Vedvik another attempt at a PAT. The 25-year-old Norwegian has undeniable talent, but he may not be long for a job in the NFL if he doesn't right the ship immediately.

Jets' Kaare Vedvik: Lands kicking job
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Jets waived kicker Taylor Bertolet on Sunday, while replacing him by the signing of Vedvik.

Barring another move by the team to address the position, Vedvik -- who can also punt -- will head into Week 1 as the team's kicker. It's a bold move for the Jets, especially given Vedvik's struggles during his recent stint with the Vikings.

Jets' Kaare Vedvik: Claimed by Jets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik was claimed off waivers by the Jets on Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Vedvik joins the Jets after being waived by the Vikings on Friday. The Jets have had a question mark at kicker ever since Chandler Catanzaro suddenly retired during the preseason. Sunday's transaction suggests Taylor Bertolet is likely to be cut, leaving Vedvik as the Jets' placekicker for Week 1 against Buffalo.

Kaare Vedvik: Let go Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik was waived by the Vikings on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of reports.

The dual punter/kicker, who the Vikings traded a fifth-round pick to the Ravens for earlier in training camp, ultimately wasn't able to find a role with the team at either spot. Given Vedvik's versatility it's possible another team might end up claiming him, but it's more likely the 25-year-old will simply end up on the Vikings' practice squad.

Vikings' Kaare Vedvik: Misses both field-goal attempts
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik missed both his field-goal attempts in Saturday's win over Arizona, from 43 and 54 yards.

It doesn't sound like Vedvik is going to win Minnesota's placekicking role, but he could still emerge as the team's punter. It's still possible he could emerge with both jobs, but that seems like a longshot. Still, Minnesota's kicking situation is unsettled heading into the final preseason week.

Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Vedvik could handle both punts and kicks "if he's good enough," Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.

Zimmer also noted the difficulty of having both a rookie return man and a rookie long snapper, referring to seventh-round pick Austin Cutting. The Vikings traded a 2020 fifth-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for Vedvik, indicating a real interest in the Marshall product's potential. It's possible that a strong preseason showing from Vedvik could threaten both kicker Dan Bailey's and punter Matt Wile's grips on their starting roles.

Vikings' Kaare Vedvik: Traded to Minnesota
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik was traded to the Vikings via the Ravens in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Vedvik had been a hot trade commodity around the league after nailing a 55-yard field goal during Thursday's preseason opener. It will be interesting to see where the team wants to slot the Marshall product, considering he can handle both punting and kicking duties. It's not often that a team trades for a specialist, showing the confidence Minnesota has in Vedvik. Both kicker Dan Bailey and punter Matt Wile should feel a bit nervous in the wake of Vedvik's acquisition.

Ravens' Kaare Vedvik: Ready to resume kicking
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vedvik (head) has recovered and is expected to practice this offseason, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Vedvik appears to have fully recovered from head injuries sustained as the result of an assault last September. The Ravens reportedly intend to trade the 25-year-old specialist if he draws interest around the league.

Vedvik was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Saturday after suffering head injuries in an apparent assault, Justin Fenton and Childs Walker of The Baltimore Sun report.

Vedvik was found injured in Baltimore early Saturday morning. He's reportedly in stable condition at a hospital after the scary incident.
