Roderic Teamer: Completes suspension
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer was reinstated after completing his four-game suspension Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 23-year-old received the suspension over the summer for violating the NFL policy on substances of abuse, and he was waived by the Chargers shortly thereafter. Teamer had 40 tackles (30 solo), one sack and one interception in seven games last season, so he could be picked up by a team looking for help in the secondary.

Roderic Teamer: Surprisingly waived
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (suspension) was waived by the Chargers on Saturday.

This was a bit of a surprise considering Teamer piled together 40 tackles last season after the Chargers' secondary depth was exposed to begin 2019. The second-year safety was expected to serve a four-game suspension to start this season after violating the NFL's policy on substances of abuse, but Teamer will have to wait to sign with a team before the suspension can begin.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Suspended four games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer has been handed a four-game suspension to start the 2020 regular season for violating the NFL policy on substances of abuse, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Teamer went undrafted in 2019 before ultimately finding a home with the Chargers. Due to injuries to both Derwin James (ankle) and Adrian Phillips (forearm), Teamer ended up in the starting lineup from Weeks 3 through 8 but ended the year with a string of healthy scratches. Teamer was expected to again compete for a job providing depth at safety in 2020, but he'll now not be able to do that until at least Week 5.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Starts six games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer registered 40 tackles (30 solo), one interception and one sack across seven games during the 2019 season.

With injuries to Derwin James (ankle) and Adrian Phillips (forearm), Teamer was forced into the starting lineup from Weeks 3 through 8, compiling the entirety of his season-long production. The undrafted rookie safety would finish the year with multiple healthy scratches, signaling the organization's feelings regarding Teamer's abilities. The 22-year-old is expected to be merely a depth option for the team moving forward, assuming he even keeps his roster spot.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Healthy scratch Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Teamer was held out of Week 14's game against the Jaguars for disciplinary reasons after missing a team meeting. Coach Anthony Lynn said Teamer wouldn't face further discipline, but it appears he has decided another game on the shelf is appropriate. Teamer's absence won't shake up the defensive dynamic much since Derwin James takes over those reps.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: No further disipline
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer won't receive further discipline and will be able to play Sunday against the Vikings, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Teamer and Denzel Perryman were late scratches for Week 14, as they were sent home by coach Anthony Lynn after missing a team meeting in Jacksonville, per Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com. The 22-year-old has played only five defensive snaps since Week 8, so he may continue to see limited chances down the stretch.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Won't play Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars for non-injury reasons, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.

Teamer and Denzel Perryman were both late scratches for non-injury reasons, but the rest of the situation remains unclear. Teamer's absence is unlikely to impact the Chargers given he's played only five defensive snaps since Week 8.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Good to go
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) is officially active for Monday's game against the Chiefs, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.

Teamer missed the last two contests with the injury, but as evidenced by this news, finally was deemed healthy to suit up. Now that he's officially healthy, expect Teamer to re-gain his starting role as the team's starting strong safety. He'll face a tough test in his first game back, however, dealing with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' high-octane passing attack.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Listed as questionable
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Chiefs.

Teamer, who missed the last two games, appears on track to make his return to a Chargers' secondary that is quickly getting healthy, as Adrian Phillips (forearm) and Derwin James (foot) are both nearing their respective return from injured reserve.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Practices fully Friday

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Inactive again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Raiders.

Teamer will miss his second consecutive contest due to a lingering groin injury. He was initially deemed doubtful for Thursday's divisional bout. Desmond King and Jaylen Watkins stand to play increased roles on defense in the starting safety's absence.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Doubtful to play Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) missed Wednesday's practice and has been deemed doubtful to play Thursday against the Raiders.

Teamer was inactive a week ago and appears to be headed for a similar fate in Week 10 after missing three days of practice. Assuming Teamer won't play, expect both Desmond King and Jaylen Watkins to see extra snaps in the Chargers' secondary as they look to build off an impressive win a week ago over the Packers.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Absence confirmed
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) is officially inactive for Sunday's home clash with Green Bay.

Teamer came into the contest carrying a doubtful tag, so his absence isn't surprising. With the Tulane product officially out for the game, Desmond King and Jaylen Watkins are expected to play elevated roles in the Chargers' secondary for Week 9.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Doubtful for Week 9
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's tilt against Green Bay.

Teamer appears to be trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's contest against the Packers. If the Tulane product is forced to miss any time due to his groin injury, Desmond King and Jaylen Watkins are likely candidates to play elevated roles in the Chargers' secondary.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Sidelined Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (groin) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice.

Teamer was limited in Wednesday's practice, and he's now downgraded to being a non-participant. The Tulane product has played 100 percent of snaps on defense over the last six games. Desmond King and Jaylen Watkins would be candidates to play increased roles in Los Angeles' secondary if Teamer were forced to miss time.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Leads team in tackles Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer recorded eight tackles, a sack and a pass defensed across 82 snaps in Sunday's win over the Bears.

Teamer has taken on a heavy workload since assuming the starting safety role. He has played 75 percent of the defensive snaps this season -- including 100 percent of the snaps over the past four games. He now has 39 tackles, a sack and an interception on the year, but he may face his toughest challenge this Sunday when the Packers come to town.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Continues to pile up tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer tallied nine tackles (five solo) in the 20-13 loss Sunday to the Broncos.

Teamer's been a relatively nice find in IDP leagues with both Derwin James (foot) and Adrian Phillips (forearm) on injured reserve, recording 18 tackles combined in three weeks since becoming the starter at safety. The rookie's coverage issues have been prominent, but against the Steelers, who could be starting third-string quarterback Devlin Hodges, Teamer could once again register a team high in tackles.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Nets seven tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer recorded seven tackles (six solo) in the 27-20 loss Sunday to the Texans.

The rookie struggled at times in coverage, but still managed to tie linebacker Thomas Davis for the team lead in tackles despite the uneven outing. It remains to be seen if Nasir Adderley or Jaylen Watkins will chip away at Teamer's playing time in the future, but for now the undrafted safety seems to have a grapple on the job vacated by Derwin James (foot) and Adrian Phillips (forearm).

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Starting strong safety
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer is expected to start at strong safety in Week 4 against the Texans, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Jaylen Watkins was expected to slide into the vacated role after Adrian Phillips (forearm) was placed on injured reserve. Instead it'll be the undrafted rookie Teamer, who was not activated in either of the Chargers' two regular-season contests to date. It's worth pointing out Phillips recorded 14 tackles through two games, but it's unclear how much playing time Teamer will really get given how often the Chargers utilize their secondary players.

Chargers' Roderic Teamer: Ready to rock
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teamer (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

Teamer missed two consecutive games due to a hamstring issue, but he now appears back to full health. The undrafted rookie out of Tulane projects to contribute on special teams.
