The Edmonton Oilers have had a glaring weakness at center for the entire 2014-15 season and have been desperately looking to acquire another NHL quality player at the position for much of the year.

They finally found one on Monday when they traded Mark Arcobello to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Derek Roy

Roy, 31, has appeared in 26 games for the Predators this season and has scored just one goal to go with nine assists. He signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the team over the summer and has been a bit of a disappointment.

While he is not the player he once was during his days in Buffalo, he is also probably better than his current statline would indicate and has been crushed by a 2.9 percent shooting percentage, by far the lowest of his career. He could be a nice bounceback candidate that just needs a fresh start on a new team with a new opportunity. Even if he does rebound it is not going to do anything to salvage what has quickly become another lost season in Edmonton, but they need somebody that can play down the middle to take some pressure off of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

Roy was just placed on waivers this past week by the Predators and went unclaimed. The Oilers could not claim him on waivers because they were at the 50 contract limit and needed to move one to get him on the roster. By moving Arcobello for him, they were able to do just that.
