Tokarski agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with Buffalo on Saturday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Tokarski had a 1-2-0 record, 3.44 GAA and .897 save percentage in four contests with Pittsburgh in 2022-23 and will now join Buffalo for the second time in his career. At the AHL level, he posted a 2.69 GAA and .910 save percentage in 36 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season. Tokarski will probably start the 2023-24 campaign in the minors.

Tokarski was called up from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday on an emergency basis, according to Penguins radio play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.
It's not yet known if Tokarski's promotion means that either Tristan Jarry, who started Wednesday, or Casey DeSmith are unavailable for Thursday's game against Dallas. Tokarski has a 1-2-0 record, 3.44 GAA and .897 save percentage in four contests this season. At the AHL level with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the 33-year-old has posted a 2.47 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 29 appearances in 2022-23.

Tokarski stopped 38-of-42 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Devils on Saturday.
Tokarski was mostly sharp through the game, but the Devils came in waves. Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt beat him at even strength, Dougie Hamilton put in a power-play marker and Nico Hischier knifed in a shortie. Tokarski has a .896 save percentage this season and just isn't a trustworthy fantasy option. Tick will remain with the Pens until either Tristan Jarry (lower body) returns or the Pens trade for a goalie.

Tokarski's promotion certainly doesn't bode well for the availability of Tristan Jarry (upper body), who was a surprise scratch versus the Panthers on Tuesday. During his previous stint in the NHL, due to a prior Jarry absence, the 33-year-old Tokarski played in just two of eight contests, posting a 1-1-0 record and a 2.68 GAA. Still, with Casey DeSmith not exactly impressing right now, perhaps Tokarski could see some more opportunities this time around depending on how long Jarry is out.

It was Tokarski's first appearance of the season and with the Penguins playing the first half of back-to-back games, he gets the Friday start.
