Chiarot contributed an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs as part of the Global Series in Sweden. Chiarot was the primary distributor on a Lucas Raymond tally to put the Red Wings up 2-0 heading into the third period, but the Maple Leafs dominated the final frame for some extra excitement in Stockholm. Chiarot has crafted four assists over his last five games, which has him on a career-best offensive pace of 28 points. Still, he is off the power play and that's the major drag on his fantasy value.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Notches two helpers
Chiarot logged a pair of assists in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers. Chiarot grabbed his first assist on Michael Rasmussen's tally midway through the third period before he grabbed a second helper on Klim Kostin's goal just 20 seconds later. It's the first multi-point game of the season for Chiarot, who came into the day with just two points (one goal, one assist) across his first 12 contests. The 32-year-old blueliner should continue to see regular minutes in a top-four role with Detroit, though he shouldn't be counted on for consistent offensive production -- Chiarot hasn't surpassed the 20-point mark in a season since the 2019-20 campaign with Montreal.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Collects assist
Chiarot recorded an assist, four shots on goal and a plus-5 rating in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Flames. Chiarot picked up his second point of the campaign when Joe Veleno deflected his shot in at 9:44 of the first period. The 32-year-old Chiarot isn't known to put up a lot of offense, but he has been a steady defensive presence so far with a plus-6 rating, 11 blocked shots and eight hits through six outings. He should continue to play in a top-four role.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Gets on scoreboard
Chiarot brushed twine in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Penguins. Chiarot telegraphed a wrist shot past goaltender Tristan Jarry for his first point of the season. While he had an abbreviated training camp in order to deal with a personal matter, Chiarot didn't take long to settle back into the mix as a second-pairing defenseman. He's not a coveted fantasy option, though he'll almost assuredly get his fair share of hits and blocked shots this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Back at practice Saturday
Chiarot (personal) returned to practice Saturday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports. Coach Derek Lalonde is hopeful that Chiarot can play as early as Tuesday's preseason contest versus the Blackhawks. Chiarot, who is likely a occupy a second-pairing role this season, had five goals and 19 points in 76 games during the 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Remains out for personal reasons
Chiarot (personal) isn't expected to return until midway through the preseason, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. It remains to be seen exactly where Chiarot will fit in the lineup since the Red Wings acquired Jeff Petry, Shayne Gostisbehere and Justin Holl in the offseason. Last year, Chiarot potted five goals to go with 14 helpers through 76 games to complement a career-high 164 blocked shots, but his minus-31 plus-minus rating was the worst on the team.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Tending to family matter
Chiarot has no timeline for his return to training camp as he's out for "family reasons," per Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Training camp for the Wings commenced Thursday, which included an on-ice practice and an off-ice workout, according to the team's official web site. Once the regular season opens, Chiarot is projected to slot in on the second defensive pair with newcomer and fellow veteran Jeff Petry. Last year, Chiarot stacked five goals and 14 assists against a minus-31 rating over 76 games in his debut campaign with the Wings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Closes out first season in Detroit
Chiarot, a first-year Red Wing, ended up with five goals, 14 assists and a minus-31 rating through 76 games this season. Chiarot had the worst efficiency rating on the team, but it should be known that he still logged a career high in blocked shots (164) and brought a physical edge with 147 hits. Offensively, he was right on par with his career averages after completing seasons with the Jets, Canadiens and Panthers, respectively. It's clear that GM Steve Yzerman finds Chiarot valuable; after all, the versatile defenseman is on the books for three more seasons at $4.75 million AAV and has a modified no-trade clause built into the contract.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Not available Saturday
Chiarot will not play Saturday, as coach Derek Lalonde said that he has 'been battling through something for a while,' Max Bultman of The Athletic reports. Lalonde said that Chiarot is expected to be out week-to-week but expects him to return before the end of the campaign. Chiarot has five goals and 18 points in 67 games with the Red Wings this season. He has been a veteran presence on the blue line, chipping in with 136 hits and 152 blocked shots.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Earns assist in win
Chiarot garnered an assist, along with three shots, versus the Red Wings on Wednesday. Chiarot needs just two more points to get back over the 20-point threshold for the fourth time in the last five seasons. While the veteran blueliner will never be a top-end fantasy target, he should offer decent mid-range value given his limited offensive upside and his ability to rack up hits and blocks.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Sets up two goals in win
Chiarot collected two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Canucks. Chiarot factored into the first two goals for Detroit, putting a merciful end to an eight-game point drought. In case you missed it, the top-pairing defender came up unscathed following his collision with Lucas Raymond in practice Friday, but Raymond wasn't so fortunate, as he ended up missing the latest contest with a lower-body injury.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Delivers helper in narrow loss
Chiarot recorded an assist in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Chiarot is on pace for a career-high 24 points in his first season with the Winged Wheel. However, we caution that this is based on the best-case scenario of the journeyman staying healthy the entire season, which we wouldn't necessarily count on given that he has a decade's worth of NHL service time without logging 82 games over a given campaign. Chiarot has added 87 blocked shots and 96 hits through 41 games.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Secures helper in wild win
Chiarot went plus-2 with an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Penguins. Chiarot was resolute in helping the Wings claw their way back from a four-goal deficit and steal a road win. The 31-year-old was well rested since Friday's game against the Senators got cancelled due to severe weather, and he picked up 22:19 of ice time, including 1:46 shorthanded, in this comeback thriller. Despite having a decade's worth of NHL service time, Chiarot has never played an 82-game season, but he has yet to miss a game in his debut campaign with Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Busy night in win
Chiarot registered an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Lightning. The Wings put an end to a six-game losing streak, despite only two of their defensemen -- Chiarot and Olli Maata -- recording points in the high-scoring affair. Chiarot has two goals and six assists through 32 games, which has him in line with his career average after stops between Winnipeg, Montreal, Florida and Detroit, respectively.... See More ... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Finds twine in Columbus
Chiarot found the back of the net in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Blue Jackets. Chiarot has two goals and three assists working against a minus-5 rating through 18 games this season, which is his first with the Red Wings. The top-pairing defender has yet to produce a point at home, so he will have to pick up the slack at Little Caesar's Arena in order to be relevant again outside of deeper formats.... See More ... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Chips in with helper
Chiarot notched an assist, five blocked shots, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Sharks. Chiarot ended a four-game point drought with the helper. The 31-year-old hasn't done a lot on offense this year, but that's to be expected -- he's more of a physical presence capable of taking on top-four minutes. For the season, he has a goal, three assists, 36 hits, 32 blocked shots, 34 shots on net, 14 PIM and a minus-5 rating in 17 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Plays all-around game
Chiarot chipped in five hits and three blocks during a 2-1 win over the Wild on Saturday. Chiarot, who is serving as a top-pairing blueliner, has focused primarily on his defensive responsibilities. The 31-year-old is mired in a six-game point drought but has found different ways to contribute. He shared the team lead in hits and tied for second in blocked shots across 22:04 of ice time.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Gets pair of points for new team
Chiarot collected a goal and an assist in the second period of Saturday's 5-2 win over the Devils. The 31-year-old defenseman struggled a bit in the preseason, as he failed to record a point through four games, but Chiarot has a respectable ceiling as long as he's skating on the top defensive pair with reigning Calder Trophy winner Moritz Seider.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Pens four-year deal with Detroit
Chiarot signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Red Wings on Thursday. Chiarot drew into 74 games split between the Canadiens and the Panthers in 2021-22, picking up nine goals and 26 points while averaging 22:51 of ice time per contest. The 31-year-old blueliner should continue to produce at a similar rate while skating in a top-four role with Detroit in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Panthers' Ben Chiarot: Slides helper Friday
Chiarot notched an assist, four hits, four blocked shots, a plus-2 rating and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Capitals in Game 6. Chiarot was held off the scoresheet in the first five games of this series. He ended that with the secondary helper on Carter Verhaeghe's series-clinching tally in overtime. To cover for the lack of offense, Chiarot's been solid with a plus-1 rating, 18 hits, 11 blocked shots and 13 shots on net.... See More ... See Less
