Chiarot recorded an assist in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Chiarot is on pace for a career-high 24 points in his first season with the Winged Wheel. However, we caution that this is based on the best-case scenario of the journeyman staying healthy the entire season, which we wouldn't necessarily count on given that he has a decade's worth of NHL service time without logging 82 games over a given campaign. Chiarot has added 87 blocked shots and 96 hits through 41 games.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Secures helper in wild win
Chiarot went plus-2 with an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Penguins. Chiarot was resolute in helping the Wings claw their way back from a four-goal deficit and steal a road win. The 31-year-old was well rested since Friday's game against the Senators got cancelled due to severe weather, and he picked up 22:19 of ice time, including 1:46 shorthanded, in this comeback thriller. Despite having a decade's worth of NHL service time, Chiarot has never played an 82-game season, but he has yet to miss a game in his debut campaign with Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Busy night in win
Chiarot registered an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Lightning. The Wings put an end to a six-game losing streak, despite only two of their defensemen -- Chiarot and Olli Maata -- recording points in the high-scoring affair. Chiarot has two goals and six assists through 32 games, which has him in line with his career average after stops between Winnipeg, Montreal, Florida and Detroit, respectively.... See More ... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Finds twine in Columbus
Chiarot found the back of the net in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Blue Jackets. Chiarot has two goals and three assists working against a minus-5 rating through 18 games this season, which is his first with the Red Wings. The top-pairing defender has yet to produce a point at home, so he will have to pick up the slack at Little Caesar's Arena in order to be relevant again outside of deeper formats.... See More ... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Chips in with helper
Chiarot notched an assist, five blocked shots, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Sharks. Chiarot ended a four-game point drought with the helper. The 31-year-old hasn't done a lot on offense this year, but that's to be expected -- he's more of a physical presence capable of taking on top-four minutes. For the season, he has a goal, three assists, 36 hits, 32 blocked shots, 34 shots on net, 14 PIM and a minus-5 rating in 17 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Plays all-around game
Chiarot chipped in five hits and three blocks during a 2-1 win over the Wild on Saturday. Chiarot, who is serving as a top-pairing blueliner, has focused primarily on his defensive responsibilities. The 31-year-old is mired in a six-game point drought but has found different ways to contribute. He shared the team lead in hits and tied for second in blocked shots across 22:04 of ice time.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Gets pair of points for new team
Chiarot collected a goal and an assist in the second period of Saturday's 5-2 win over the Devils. The 31-year-old defenseman struggled a bit in the preseason, as he failed to record a point through four games, but Chiarot has a respectable ceiling as long as he's skating on the top defensive pair with reigning Calder Trophy winner Moritz Seider.... Red Wings' Ben Chiarot: Pens four-year deal with Detroit
Chiarot signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Red Wings on Thursday. Chiarot drew into 74 games split between the Canadiens and the Panthers in 2021-22, picking up nine goals and 26 points while averaging 22:51 of ice time per contest. The 31-year-old blueliner should continue to produce at a similar rate while skating in a top-four role with Detroit in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Panthers' Ben Chiarot: Slides helper Friday
Chiarot notched an assist, four hits, four blocked shots, a plus-2 rating and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Capitals in Game 6. Chiarot was held off the scoresheet in the first five games of this series. He ended that with the secondary helper on Carter Verhaeghe's series-clinching tally in overtime. To cover for the lack of offense, Chiarot's been solid with a plus-1 rating, 18 hits, 11 blocked shots and 13 shots on net.... See More ... See Less -
Panthers' Ben Chiarot: Doing well in Florida
Chiarot earned an assist, two blocked shots and two shots on goal in Friday's 6-1 win over the Jets. Since he was traded from the Canadiens, Chiarot has posted six points, 27 hits, 27 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 12 contests. The 30-year-old has taken on a top-pairing role with Aaron Ekblad (lower body) on long-term injured reserve. Chiarot doesn't have the same kind of scoring upside, but he's enjoying a career year with 24 points in 66 contests overall while adding plenty of physicality.... See More ... See Less -
Panthers' Ben Chiarot: Dealt to Cats
Chiarot was traded from the Canadiens to the Panthers on Wednesday in exchange for Ty Smilanic, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2022 fourth-round pick. One of the biggest trade targets is off the board, as the Panthers will get a defensive boost to their blue line in Chiarot. The 30-year-old has averaged 23:33 of ice time with 18 points, 110 hits and 91 blocked shots in 54 games for the Canadiens this season. It's unclear if he'll be ready to play in Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights or Friday's contest versus the Ducks due to immigration paperwork -- he could potential play his first game for the Panthers against the Habs on March 24 if his arrival is delayed.... Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Adds another helper
Chiarot had an assist, one shot on net and three blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers. Chiarot, who picked up an assist for the second consecutive game, is rolling offensively right now. The defenseman has nine points over the last nine contests, which comes at a convenient time for the Canadiens. Chiarot is expected to be traded by next Monday's trade deadline, and his scoring run enhances the trade value Montreal can expect in return.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Stays hot
Chiarot had an assist, one shot on net, two hits and four blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Kraken. Chiarot had the primary helper on Nick Suzuki's game-tying goal late in the third period. The normally modest-scoring defenseman has picked up the offense recently, having registered eight points (two goals, six assists) over the last eight games.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Slides assist in win
Chiarot had an assist, two hits and two PIM in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers. Chiarot followed up Thursday's two-goal, three-point night with an assist on Mike Hoffman's empty-netter. The normally modest-scoring defenseman is on fire of late with seven points over the last six games.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Clutches up in win over Flames
Chiarot scored two goals, dished an assist, went plus-2 and blocked two shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Flames. Chiarot took a puck to the face in this contest, but that seemed to spark him once he was able to get the bleeding to stop. He scored a game-tying goal in the third period, assisted on Mike Hoffman's go-ahead tally and then struck again in overtime. Chiarot has two goals and four assists in his last six games, bringing his point total to 15 through 50 contests overall. He's added 104 hits, 83 blocked shots, 93 shots on net and a minus-19 rating. The Flames are one of many teams reportedly interested in acquiring him prior to the March 21 trade deadline, but both NHL general managers and their fantasy counterparts shouldn't expect offensive explosions like this often from the 30-year-old.... Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Extends assist streak
Chiarot had an assist, two shots on net, one hit, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 2-1 win over Ottawa. Chiarot's blast from the point was stopped by Matt Murray, but the puck bounced to an area where Artturi Lehkonen got enough stick on it to give Montreal a 1-0 lead late in the first period. It was the third straight game with an assist for Chiarot, who contributed to the team's fifth straight victory. This was the fourth consecutive contest in which he was above water in plus-minus (plus-7), and he's improved his season mark to minus-20. This recent surge comes after the defenseman shifted from his natural left side to the right, a ploy to make him marketable to more teams leading up to the trade deadline. Chiarot has 12 points, 88 shots, 101 hits, 81 blocked shots and 38 PIM through 48 games.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Helpers in consecutive contests
Chiarot logged an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Sabres. Chiarot has picked up helpers in each of the last two contests. He set up Jake Evans for an empty-netter Wednesday. Chiarot is up to 11 points, 100 hits, 79 blocked shots, 86 shots on net and a minus-22 rating through 47 appearances. He continues to play a defensive role in the Canadiens' top four, though he's a candidate to be traded prior to next month's deadline.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Nabs assist in win
Chiarot logged an assist, three blocked shots, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Chiarot had gone without a point in his last five games, and he missed two contests with a lower-body injury in that span. The 30-year-old had the secondary helper on a Rem Pitlick goal in the second period. Chiarot is up to 10 points, 99 hits, 78 blocked shots, 84 shots on net and a minus-24 rating in 46 outings this season. Any team that is interested in acquiring the defenseman ahead of the March 21 trade deadline is doing so with an eye on bolstering their defensive shape, not their offense.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Returns in new role
Chiarot had one shot on net and two hits over 23:48 of ice time in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Islanders. Chiarot returned to the lineup after missing two games due to a lower-body injury. Notably, he operated on the right side of the second pairing, a move that may be dictated by another team's interest in trading for the the left-handed shooting blueliner but for the right side.... Canadiens' Ben Chiarot: Rejoins lineup
Chiarot (lower body) was activated from injured reserve and returned to action Sunday against the Islanders. Chiarot posted a plus-1 rating with one shot and two hits in Sunday's victory. Montreal's blue line is slowly getting healthier as the trade deadline approaches. As things stand now, the expectation is that Chiarot will be with a new team in the coming weeks.... See More ...
