Bonino (kidney laceration) is out week-to-week, according to coach Mike Sullivan, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Bonino was injured Thursday against the Islanders and underwent surgery. He was picked up at the trade deadline and managed to get into three games with the Penguins, averaging 9:50 TOI per game without a point. Bonino had 10 goals and 19 points in 59 games with the Sharks before the trade. He is expected to be released from the hospital Saturday.

Penguins' Nick Bonino: Sent to Pittsburgh
The Penguins acquired Bonino from the Sharks in exchange for Arvid Henrikson, a conditional 2024 fifth-round selection and a 2023 seventh-round pick Friday.
Montreal was also involved in the trade to help with the Penguins' salary-cap situation, picking up Tony Sund and the Sharks' fifth-round pick in 2024 in the process.
