  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Draws ire in Ottawa

Gallagher had one assist, six shots on net, one blocked shot and two PIM in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Senators. The Ottawa crowd was ready for Gallagher after the Montreal forward called out Senators forward Tim Stutzle for selling calls when these two teams met earlier in April. Gallagher decided to make sure that if Stutzle hit the ice this time, it would be for a legitimate reason, and he was sent off for roughing. Gallagher also picked up an assist for the second consecutive game.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Registers multi-point effort

Gallagher had two assists, two hits and two PIM while finishing plus-3 over 14:07 of ice time in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Devils. Gallagher had a secondary assist on a Joel Armia goal then was the primary assistant on Kale Clague's tally that closed out the game's scoring. He's posted two points in each of the two contests back from a seven-game absence due to a lower-body injury.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Makes noise in return

Gallagher scored a goal on two shots, assisted on a power-play tally and was assessed 12 PIM in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Senators. Gallagher was back on the ice after missing eight games due to a lower-body injury and skated a lot of fourth-line minutes in 5-on-5 situations. Montreal's spiritual leader kept his role on the power-play unit as well. He wasted little time making an impact, scoring the game's first goal a little more than two minutes into the first period. Gallagher was positioned, where else, in front of the net and pounced on a rebound of a Jake Evans shot. Prior to the goal, he was heavily involved on the forecheck to keep Ottawa bottled up in its own end. The 29-year-old forward later assisted on Cole Caufield's goal. Gallagher was eventually bounced from the game when he picked up a roughing penalty followed by a misconduct with one minute left in the third period.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Ready to rock

As expected, Gallagher (lower body) will return to the lineup Tuesday versus the Senators. Gallagher is expected to return to a prominent role following his eight-game absence, skating on the third line and second power-play unit against Ottawa. The 29-year-old winger has struggled from an offensive standpoint this season, having picked up just five goals and 14 points through 43 contests.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Set to return Tuesday

Gallagher (lower body) is awaiting final medical clearance but anticipates playing in Tuesday's matchup with Ottawa, John Lu of TSN.ca reports. Gallagher was stuck in a five-game pointless streak prior to his eight-match absence due to his lower-body issue. If the winger is given the all-clear Tuesday, he figures to slot into a top-six role, though the team could utilize him on the third line to start in order to limit his minutes. On the year, Gallagher has generated just 14 points and will almost certainly miss the 40-point threshold for the second straight year.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Set for one-week absence

Gallagher (lower body) is expected to miss at least a week due to his lower-body injury, the team announced Friday. Based on the team's timeline, Gallagher figures to be on the shelf for the Habs' next four contests. The 29-year-old winger has struggled offensively this year, as he has just five goals in 43 contests and is in danger of missing the 10-goal threshold for the first time in his 10-year NHL career.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Ruled out Monday

Gallagher (lower body) will miss Monday's matchup with Boston due to a non-COVID illness. Gallagher was sidelined against Ottawa on Saturday due to his lower-body problem and will now miss his second straight contest. The 29-year-old winger has just one goal in his last 24 contests and could be in danger of missing the 10-goal mark for the first time in his 10-year NHL career.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Sidelined with lower-body injury

Gallagher is considered day-to-day with a lower-body issue and won't play Saturday versus Ottawa. Gallagher's lower-body injury doesn't appear to be overly serious, so he'll likely be ready to return sooner rather than later. Another update on the 29-year-old winger should surface prior to Monday's matchup with Boston.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Leaves game, returns

Gallagher left Thursday's loss to the Stars with a lower-body injury early midway through second period but returned for the third period, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports. Gallagher appeared to suffer an injury to the knee or groin area when his left leg buckled along the boards. He skated to the bench under his own power and was assisted to the dressing room by training staff. Upon returning to the ice for the third period, Gallagher took six shifts for 4:03 TOI. The injury bears monitoring Friday ahead of Montreal's next game, Saturday at home against the Senators.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Snaps 19-game goal drought

Gallagher scored a power-play goal in the first period of Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers. He also had an even-strength assist. It was classic Gallagher -- he put in a rebound from in front. But more importantly, it was his first goal since Nov. 20, a span of 19 games. Gallagher has been in a deep hole for the last 18 outings -- he has just four points in that span, including the two from Saturday. He gives you a bit of category coverage, but Gallagher's recent lack of offense has diminished his overall value substantially. This is Gallagher's worst season in the NHL.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Dishes pair of assists

Gallagher logged two assists, four shots on goal, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Gallagher set up tallies by Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick in the second period. The 29-year-old Gallagher entered Monday on a 12-game point drought that also saw him miss 17 contests due to COVID-19 and a lower-body injury. The brutal season and the Canadiens' struggles have combined to play a part in Gallagher's poor numbers. He's at 12 points, 82 shots on net, 38 hits and a minus-9 rating through 33 appearances overall.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Returns to action

Gallagher had two shots on net, two hits, two PIM while finishing minus-2 over 13:40 of ice time in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Gallagher returned to action after missing 10 games with a lower-body injury and skated on the third line with Laurent Dauphin and Mike Hoffman. Montreal is next-to-last in the league in offense, which doesn't offer much hope for Gallagher, who is a less attractive fantasy asset than he had been in previous seasons. He has 10 points, 62 shots, 26 hits and 28 PIM over 26 games.

  • Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Ruled out Wednesday

Gallagher (lower body) did not travel with the team to Boston on Tuesday, per John Lu of TSN.ca. Gallagher exited a contest against the Hurricanes with a lower-body injury on Dec. 30 and has been shelved in recovery since. He could still join the team ahead of Thursday's game with Chicago but it is unlikely to considering multiple players on injured reserve traveled with the team. Jesse Ylonen is expected to hold on to his expanded role in Wednesday's contest with Boston.
