  • Sabres' Riley Sheahan: Back in Buffalo

Sheahan signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Sabres on Wednesday. Sheahan spent last season with the Kraken, posting 17 points in 69 contests in a bottom-six role. The 30-year-old previously played with the Sabres in 2020-21, logging 13 points in 53 contests. His deal is two-way, so while he'll get a $100,000 raise at the NHL level, it doesn't come with any additional job security.

Sheahan scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Jets. Sheahan put the Kraken ahead 3-1 at 13:19 of the second period, but his goal was their last one this season. Sheahan recorded an assist in Friday's 3-0 win over the Sharks. Sheahan set up Victor Rask on an empty-net tally in the final minute of the game. In his last four games, Sheahan has a goal, two assists, six shots on net and a plus-2 rating. The 30-year-old forward is up to 16 points, 67 shots on net and a plus-7 rating while mainly playing in a fourth-line role through 68 contests this season.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Manages helper Tuesday

Sheahan provided an assist and fired two shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks. Sheahan has a goal and an assist in his last two games. The fourth-liner has been steady for the Kraken this season, but it hasn't led to much offense. He's at 15 points, 64 shots on net and a plus-6 rating through 66 contests.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Opens scoring in loss

Sheahan scored a goal and added two PIM in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Stars. Sheahan put the Kraken on the board at 6:50 of the first period, but they couldn't hang onto their lead as their offense dried up later. The goal snapped Sheahan's six-game drought. The 30-year-old center has 14 points, 62 shots on net and a plus-6 rating in 65 contests this season, mainly playing in a bottom-six role.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Picks up helper

Sheahan notched an assist and blocked two shots in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Blackhawks. Sheahan has been limited to just three helpers in 16 games since the start of March. The 30-year-old saw second-line usage Thursday, but that increase in role doesn't figure to make the defensive center all that much more prominent on offense. For the season, he's at 13 points in 58 contests, matching his output from 53 outings with the Sabres last season. He's added 57 shots on net and a plus-7 rating in 2021-22.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Notches assist Monday

Sheahan posted an assist in Monday's 6-1 win over the Kings. Sheahan ended an eight-game point drought when he set up Daniel Sprong's third-period marker. The 30-year-old Sheahan continues to fill a fourth-line role despite the lack of offense -- with Jaden Schwartz (upper body) out, the Kraken don't have any extra forwards on their roster. Sheahan is at 12 points, 54 shots on net and a plus-5 rating through 53 appearances.

Sheahan produced an assist in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals. Sheahan picked up his fourth point in the last six games with the primary helper on Joonas Donskoi's first-period marker. The 30-year-old Sheahan has a goal and three assists in his recent productive stretch. The veteran defensive forward has 11 points, 46 shots on net and a plus-4 rating in 44 contests overall, mainly in a bottom-six role.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Posts shorthanded assist

Sheahan logged a shorthanded assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Bruins. For the second time in three games, Sheahan fed Mark Giordano for a shortie. Sheahan has a goal and two helpers in his last three outings, giving him 10 points in 41 appearances overall. The 30-year-old has added 43 shots on net and a plus-6 rating. He played on the second line as part of a lineup shuffle necessitated by Jared McCann's (upper body) absence, though it's unclear if Sheahan will stick in a more advanced role.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Gets fortunate bounce for goal

Sheahan scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Islanders. Sheahan benefited from an Islanders clearing attempt deflecting oddly off the glass. It went right to the center at the net front, and he tucked it inside the post for the Kraken's second goal. The 30-year-old has points in consecutive games for the first time this season, and he's at two goals, seven assists, 40 shots on net and a plus-6 rating through 40 appearances.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Offers shorthanded helper

Sheahan produced a shorthanded assist in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks. Sheahan had the secondary helper on a Mark Giordano goal in the first period. The 30-year-old Sheahan has picked up at least one shorthanded point in each of the last five seasons as a solid defensive forward. In 39 contests this year, he's at eight points, 37 shots on net and a plus-5 rating while often centering the Kraken's fourth line.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Sets up game-winner

Sheahan put up an assist and blocked two shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Ducks. Sheahan set up Jordan Eberle at 18:18 of the third period for the game-winner. This was Sheahan's first point since he earned an assist Jan. 23 versus the Panthers. The 30-year-old has been a fixture in the Kraken's bottom six, but he has just seven points with 35 shots on net and a plus-4 rating in 35 contests this season.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Nabs assist Sunday

Sheahan recorded an assist and four shots on goal in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Panthers. Sheahan helped out on a Colin Blackwell goal in the second period. With two assists in his last four games, Sheahan is getting a little more involved on offense, and his four shots Sunday were a season high. The 30-year-old isn't likely to contribute much, as he's picked up six points, 30 shots and a plus-5 rating in 28 appearances overall.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Gets on scoresheet with helper

Sheahan notched an assist in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks. Sheahan set up a Vince Dunn goal in the second period. The 30-year-old Sheahan hadn't registered a point since Dec. 3 with an assist against the Oilers. The veteran forward has one goal, four helpers, 23 shots on net and a plus-3 rating in 25 contests. He'll likely continue to play in a bottom-six role that's unlikely to earn him much interest in fantasy.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Practices Monday

Sheahan (not injury related) was back on the ice Monday after clearing the league's COVID-19 protocols, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports. Sheahan has been sidelined for the Kraken's last five contests after being placed in the league's protocols. Considering the center is bogged down in a 14-game goal drought, during which he generated three assists, Sheahan shouldn't be considered more than a bottom-six role player for the club moving forward.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Enters COVID-19 protocols

Sheahan entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Saturday. Sheahan will miss Saturday's game versus the Blue Jackets at a minimum. The 30-year-old forward will need to submit two negative COVID-19 tests before rejoining the Kraken.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Adds assist Friday

Sheahan produced an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Oilers. Sheahan has played in four games since he was recalled from AHL Charlotte, but this was his first point in that span. The 29-year-old is up to four points, 18 shots on net and a plus-5 rating in 18 contests overall. • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Clears waivers, headed to AHL

Sheahan cleared waivers Sunday and has been reassigned to AHL Charlotte. Sheahan had played in all 14 games with Seattle this year prior to being waived, but he's only managed a goal and two assists while not chipping in much anywhere else (14 shots, three hits, seven blocks). He hasn't played an AHL game since 2013-14, as he's been in the NHL since then with Detroit, Pittsburgh, Florida, Edmonton and Buffalo before joining Seattle.

  • Kraken's Riley Sheahan: Hits waivers

Sheahan was waived by Seattle on Saturday. Sheahan was waived to make room for Colin Blackwell (lower body) on the Kraken's active roster. Sheahan has 580 games of NHL experience to his name, during which he's totaled 71 goals and 180 points, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him get plucked off waivers by another NHL club. If not, he'll likely head to Seattle's AHL affiliate.
