Oilers' Anton Slepyshev: Spurns NHL offer
Slepyshev signed a two-year contract extension with CSKA Moscow on Thursday, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
Previous reports indicated the Oilers had made an offer to Slepyshev in the hope of convincing him to return to North America, but it appears the 25-year-old winger is content to stay in the KHL. While there is always a chance, this likely will close the door on the Russian ever making his way back to the NHL, though Edmonton will continue to hold his rights should he be tempted to make the move.

Oilers' Anton Slepyshev: Contract talks in works
According to general manager Ken Holland, the club has offered Slepyshev a contract in hopes of signing him ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.
Slepyshev received a qualifying offer from Edmonton back in July of 2018 but ultimately decided to sign a two-year deal with KHL club CSKA Moscow. In two seasons in Russia, the 2013 third-round pick notched 33 goals and 37 helpers in 110 appearances. If he signs with the Oilers, fantasy owners may want to track his progress during camp as a potential late-round sleeper pick.

Oilers' Anton Slepyshev: Playing in Russia
Slepyshev -- who signed a two-year deal with CSKA Moscow in the offseason -- has recorded two goals and four assists in 18 KHL contests.
Although Slepyshev's rights remains under the Oilers' control after the club gave him a qualifying offer, the two sides were unable to reach a long-term deal and the Russian instead returned to his homeland. Whether the 24-year-old ever comes back to the NHL remains to be seen.

The 24-year-old winger scored 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 50 games for Edmonton in 2017-18. However, Slepyshev is expected to sign with the KHL in the near future -- this qualifying offer merely allows the Oilers to retain his NHL rights. The young Russian failed to carve out a role in Oil Country this past season, and transferring leagues would only diminish his weak fantasy value in 2018-19.

Oilers' Anton Slepyshev: Bound for KHL?
Slepyshev is expected to leave the Oilers and join CSKA Moscow of the KHL since his contract rights were acquired by Salavat Julaev UFA on Thursday, TSN reports.
While the original report comes from Aivis Kalnins, who's a reputable KHL insider, we'd take this news with a grain of salt since Slepyshev's cashing out the balance of a three-year entry-level contract with the Oilers and it would be a bit strange to see the pending restricted free agent returning to Russia before his agent had the chance to negotiate a new contract. Selected in the third round (88th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Slepyshev has compiled 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) over 102 games with Edmonton.

Oilers' Anton Slepyshev: Finishes nomadic season
Slepyshev finished the 2017-18 season with 12 points in 50 games.
Slepyshev was quite the nomadic player in 2017-18 -- he saw time on the first line with Connor McDavid, then time on the third line. He was deemed a healthy scratch and even went back down to Bakersfield. It will be interesting to see what Edmonton does with the 23-year-old Russian.

Slepyshev recorded an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Bruins.
The assist was Slepyshev's first point in the last four games. With only seven points on the season, the 23-year-old Russian is having a difficult time carving out a role in Edmonton -- he spent time alongside Connor McDavid on Feb. 17 yet was on the third line in this contest. Until Slepyshev can skate on more guaranteed opportunities, he is best left on the wire.

The 23-year-old Russian now has two goals in his last three games. Sadly, Slepyshev has only garnered six points in 25 games this season. While his average ice time (11:28) doesn't guarantee a lot of opportunities, the Oilers appear to be sellers at the trade deadline so that could quickly change. Slepyshev is worth monitoring but is best left on the wire for now.

The goal was Slepyshev's second of the season, bringing his point total to five in 23 games in 2017-18. The young German has been mentioned in trade talks as of late and while the increased ice time (15:25, his highest since Nov. 3) proved beneficial, Slepyshev has minimal fantasy value as long as he remains in Edmonton.

Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli is fielding trade offers for Slepyshev, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Slepyshev is no longer waiver exempt, and the Oilers haven't had much use for the 23-year-old Russian, who is cashing out the balance of a three-year, entry-level contract valued at $1.525 million annually. The winger has scored once to go along with two assists against a minus-4 rating through 18 games, making him a rather unattractive fantasy option so long as he remains in Edmonton. However, it might not be a bad idea to buy low in case the 2013 third-round pick soon finds himself in a better situation.

It's possible Slepyshev returned to the lineup too soon, as he was limited to just 10:27 of ice time before being forced to leave the game. By placing the winger on injured reserve, the Oilers will be forced to play without him for at least their next three outings. Jesse Puljujarvi has been called up from AHL Bakersfield to fill out the 23-man roster.
