  • Stefanos Lekkas: Won't receive qualifying offer

    Lekkas will become a free agent after the Sabres opted not to give him a qualifying offer Monday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Lekkas was signed to an NHL contract back in May when the Sabres were dealing with a raft of injuries among their goaltending complement. The 25-year-old Illinois native never got into a game while with Buffalo and will likely have to sign either a minor-league contract or head overseas to continue playing.

  • Sabres' Stefanos Lekkas: Inks one-year deal

    Lekkas signed a one-year deal with the Sabres worth $700,000 on Tuesday. With Buffalo's top three goalies ruled out for the remainder of the season, the club opted to sign Lekkas. He'll be the likely backup in the last three games of the season to Michael Houser, who is the confirmed starter Tuesday against the Islanders.
