Rotowire
Olausson was called up from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Olausson has managed just 10 points over 27 appearances at the AHL level this season. The winger's call-up suggests Valeri Nichushkin (lower body) won't be available to play Thursday versus the Sabres. Olausson will likely play in a bottom-six role if he draws into the lineup.

Avalanche's Oskar Olausson: Skating with teammates
Rotowire
Olausson (shoulder) was on the ice for an informal workout ahead of training camp, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports Thursday.
Olausson underwent shoulder surgery back in February, which ended his 2023-24 campaign. As a result, the 2021 first-round pick saw action in just 39 minor-league contests with the Eagles in which he generated 11 goals and nine helpers. In addition, Olausson managed only one NHL outing against Anaheim on Dec. 5, recording two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in 11:50 of ice time. Even with Olausson fully fit, he will face an uphill battle during camp to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster.

Avalanche's Oskar Olausson: Done for season
Rotowire
Olausson will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season after he undergoes shoulder surgery Monday.

He also picked up two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots over 11:50 of ice time in a 3-2 win over Anaheim on Dec. 5 during his lone NHL outing of 2023-24. The 21-year-old was selected with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. Avalanche's Oskar Olausson: Makes season debut
Rotowire
Olausson had two shots on net, two blocked shots and one hit over 11:50 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Anaheim.
Olausson was called up amid a rash of players scratched due to injury (Andrew Cogliano (lower body) and Cale Makar (lower body) or illness (Valeri Nichushkin). Olausson skated with Ross Colton and Mikko Rantanen on a night when head coach Jared Bednar blenderized the lines. Olausson's stay in the NHL could be a short one if Nichushkin is over his illness by Thursday when the Avalanche host the Jets. However, Colorado lost defenseman Bowen Byram to an upper-body injury during the second period versus the Ducks, which could impact Olausson. Hybrid forward/defenseman Kurtis MacDermid, who was active and scored a goal as a forward Tuesday, could be needed on the blue line if neither Byram nor Makar are ready to go Thursday.

Avalanche's Oskar Olausson: Tallies Monday
Rotowire
OIausson scored a goal on two shots in Monday's 3-2 preseason win over Vegas.
Olausson finished off a play with nifty stick handling before slipping the puck through the five-hole on Logan Thompson. The 21-year-old forward made an impression on head coach Jared Bednar. "The first thing I noticed when we got into main camp was the explosiveness," the coach said. "He's bigger, stronger, faster. He's a smart hockey player, obviously has some offensive upside, still coming into his game, but his explosiveness and his skating this year is much improved." Olausson, the No. 28 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, had 11 goals and nine assists over 63 games for AHL Colorado in 2022-23.
