Schmidt split last season between three AHL clubs, totaling just three assists over 49 regular-season contests. He had two assists in 19 games for AHL Iowa, and clearly the organization saw enough to keep him around for another year. Expect the blueliner to spend most or all of 2026-27 in the minors again.

Schmidt was traded to the Wild from the Flyers in exchange for Boris Katchouk on Sunday.
Schmidt was traded to Philadelphia from Tampa Bay in early December, and he'll be on the move once again just under three months later. He's recorded an assist and 60 PIM over 29 AHL appearances between Lehigh Valley and Syracuse, and he'll report to Iowa following Sunday's transaction.

Schmidt was dealt to the Flyers from the Lightning on Monday in exchange for Ethan Samson.
The Flyers assigned Schmidt to AHL Lehigh Valley after acquiring him. The right-shot defenseman was a third-round pick (No. 96 overall) by Tampa Bay in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut, and he'll now continue his development in the minors with the Phantoms.
