Maltsev has 56 games of NHL experience, but at 25 years old and on a two-way deal with the Kings this year, it's fair to question if he'll ever stick at hockey's highest level. The forward is expected to finish the campaign in the KHL.... See More ... See Less

Maltsev had two shots on net and won all three faceoffs over 6:43 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Rangers. Maltsev was recalled by the Avalanche in time to make the trip east for his season debut. He skated on the fourth line, a unit that's not yet established, as head coach Jared Bednar tried multiple combinations, and been given little TOI early in the season. Tuesday's on-ice usage did not deviate from the pattern. Maltsev and his mates had just two third-period shifts.... See More ... See Less -

Avalanche's Mikhail Maltsev: Secures one-year deal
Maltsev penned a one-year contract with Colorado on Wednesday. Maltsev played in 18 games for the Avs this past season in which he failed to register a single point. Clearly, the fourth-line forward received the message that he needs to be more feisty.... See More ... See Less -

In three games this week as a fill-in, he has three shots and 11 hits at minus-1.... See More ... See Less -
