Jeremy Helvig: Unqualified by Canes
Helvig will not receive a qualifying offer by Carolina on Monday and will hit the free-agent market, Sara Civian of The Athletic reports.
Helvig has spent the bulk of his time over the last two seasons in the ECHL, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see the organization moving on. Selected by the Canes in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old netminder will almost certainly never make it into an NHL game at this point.
