Smallman signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche on Wednesday. Smallman posted 10 goals and 17 assists in 65 games with AHL Chicago last season. He has yet to make his NHL debut, and the Avalanche's solid forward depth makes it unlikely he'll start the year with the big club. Instead, expect Smallman to report to AHL Colorado for much of 2022-23.
