Casey logged an assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins.
Casey has earned two assists over three contests since rejoining the NHL roster. The 21-year-old has jumped right into a third-pairing role over Simon Nemec and Dennis Cholowski. Casey hasn't looked out of place this season with seven points, 12 shots on net, nine hits and a plus-6 rating over 13 appearances. Dougie Hamilton (lower body) won't be ready for the first round of the playoffs, so Casey could get an extended look in postseason play.

Casey earned his first point in his first game since being recalled from AHL Utica on Wednesday. Devils' Seamus Casey: Overcomes injury
Casey missed nearly two months for AHL Utica due to a wrist injury, Ben Birnell of The Daily Sentinel reports.
Casey has been superb when healthy, earning 15 points over his first 19 AHL games with the Comets. The 21-year-old actually made his NHL debut before his first AHL game, filling in with the Devils when the team was thin on defense early in the campaign. There's been no room in the NHL since late October, and while Casey missed time with an injury, his development remains strong. The Devils have four blueliners under contract for two more years after this season, but if they don't re-sign Johnny Kovacevic, Casey could have a clearer path to the NHL in 2025-26. With his offense developing well, any refinement in his game in the AHL is likely to be on the defensive side of things.

Devils' Seamus Casey: Dropped to AHL
Casey was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday.
In a corresponding move, the Devils recalled defenseman Daniil Misyul from the minors to take Casey's spot on the roster. The 20-year-old Casey has three goals, one assist, six shots on net, seven blocked shots and four hits in eight appearances with New Jersey this season. He could be back in the NHL at some point in 2024-25, but he should get an increase in responsibilities at the AHL level.

Casey scored the game-winning goal on the power play and added an even-strength assist in Monday's 3-0 win over Utah.
The rookie blueliner continued his impressive start to the season, opening the scoring 74 seconds into the second period by snapping a shot top shelf past Karel Vejmelka. Casey has three goals and four points through his first five NHL games, including two power-play tallies. While Brett Pesce (lower leg) could be back in action soon, it's hard to imagine the 20-year-old Casey losing his spot in the lineup given his current form.
