  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Picks up three helpers in AHL win

Casey posted three assists in AHL Utica's 4-3 overtime win over Rochester on Wednesday. Casey posted his first multi-point effort of the AHL campaign. He's now at seven assists, 25 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 11 appearances. The 21-year-old defenseman also saw action in two NHL games earlier in the season, but he went minus-3 and failed to earn a point. His future is bright, but he'll need to show a lot more with the Comets to earn another call-up.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Sent back to AHL

Casey was assigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday. Casey spent the past week and a half with the Devils and appeared in two games, recording no points on four shots, a blocked shot and a minus-3 rating while averaging 18:01 of ice time. He should see a more consistent role with Utica, while Colton White was called up in a corresponding move Wednesday.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Summoned from minors

Casey was recalled from AHL Utica on Sunday. Brett Pesce sustained an upper-body injury during Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Avalanche, which resulted in the Devils elevating Casey from the minors. The 21-year-old Casey has yet to make his 2025-26 debut with the big club, but he had a great showing across 14 regular-season appearances with the Devils last season, recording four goals, eight points and a plus-3 rating. The right-shot blueliner will be an option to draw into the lineup in Tuesday's rematch versus Colorado.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Activated, sent down

Casey (lower body) was activated off injured reserve and reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday. Casey was going to be a long shot to make the Devils' roster coming out of training camp, but his lower-body issue didn't do him any favors. The 21-year-old blueliner appeared in 14 regular-season clashes for New Jersey last season, recording four goals and four assists, including a trio of power-play points. If Casey can produce at that level in the minors, he should be on the short list of potential call-ups once he gets his legs under him with Utica.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Garners assist Friday

Casey logged an assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Casey has earned two assists over three contests since rejoining the NHL roster. The 21-year-old has jumped right into a third-pairing role over Simon Nemec and Dennis Cholowski. Casey hasn't looked out of place this season with seven points, 12 shots on net, nine hits and a plus-6 rating over 13 appearances. Dougie Hamilton (lower body) won't be ready for the first round of the playoffs, so Casey could get an extended look in postseason play.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Not on NHL roster

Casey is not listed on the Devils' roster, indicating he was reassigned to AHL Utica on Friday, per the NHL media site. It's unclear if this is a paper move. Casey's demotion leaves the Devils with just six healthy blueliners -- Jonas Siegenthaler (lower body) is out for the rest of the regular season and Dougie Hamilton (lower body) is out indefinitely. Casey should be eligible for the AHL playoffs, but the Devils may eventually call him back up to provide extra defensive depth in the NHL amid these significant injury absences.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Scores in big win

Casey scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Predators. This was Casey's first NHL action since Oct. 19. The 21-year-old is set to compete with Simon Nemec for playing time during the absence of Jonas Siegenthaler (lower body). Casey has made a good first impression with five points (four goals, one assist), nine shots on net and a plus-4 rating over nine contests, though he is seeing sheltered minutes on the third pairing.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Overcomes injury

Casey missed nearly two months for AHL Utica due to a wrist injury, Ben Birnell of The Daily Sentinel reports. Casey has been superb when healthy, earning 15 points over his first 19 AHL games with the Comets. The 21-year-old actually made his NHL debut before his first AHL game, filling in with the Devils when the team was thin on defense early in the campaign. There's been no room in the NHL since late October, and while Casey missed time with an injury, his development remains strong. The Devils have four blueliners under contract for two more years after this season, but if they don't re-sign Johnny Kovacevic, Casey could have a clearer path to the NHL in 2025-26. With his offense developing well, any refinement in his game in the AHL is likely to be on the defensive side of things.

  • Devils' Seamus Casey: Dropped to AHL

Casey was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday. In a corresponding move, the Devils recalled defenseman Daniil Misyul from the minors to take Casey's spot on the roster. The 20-year-old Casey has three goals, one assist, six shots on net, seven blocked shots and four hits in eight appearances with New Jersey this season. He could be back in the NHL at some point in 2024-25, but he should get an increase in responsibilities at the AHL level.
