Honzek was activated from injured reserve Wednesday after missing a week and a half due to an upper-body injury. He played in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to Utah and tallied two hits, a blocked shot and a minus-1 rating in 10:52 of ice time. He'll head to the AHL to make room on the NHL roster for Matthew Coronato, who was recalled in a corresponding move.

Honzek sustained an upper-body injury in mid-October and was placed on injured reserve Oct. 19. However, he fully participated in Friday's practice session and will be available for Wednesday's game in Utah. Over his first four appearances of the season, the 19-year-old tallied six shots on goal, four hits and a blocked shot while averaging 12:47 of ice time.

Honzek was injured Oct. 15 against the Blackhawks and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. The 19-year-old rookie was upgraded to day-to-day according to coach Ryan Huska. Honzek has yet to hit the scoresheet in his four-game NHL career.

The Flames stated Thursday that Honzek was week-to-week, so this is no surprise. Honzek was selected 16th overall in the 2023 Draft and cracked the Flames' lineup Opening Night, starting out on the top line with Nazem Kadri and Andrei Kuzmenko. He failed to pick up a point in four appearances and will likely be returned to WHL Vancouver when he is healthy enough to play as Honzek needs plenty of ice time at the tender age of 19.
