  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Sent back to minors

Merkulov was assigned to AHL Providence on Sunday. Merkulov was a healthy scratch in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over Detroit after logging 10:35 of ice time in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers. He has produced six goals and 14 points in 17 minor-league appearances this season.

  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Recalled from Providence

Merkulov was called up from AHL Providence on Friday, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal. Merkulov snapped a long drought in the AHL on Wednesday with a goal and two helpers, after picking up one assist in the previous nine contests. He has six goals and eight assists in 17 games with Providence this season. The Bruins sent Michael Callahan to Providence in a corresponding move.

  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Earns three points in AHL win

Merkulov scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Providence's 5-1 win over Toronto on Wednesday. Merkulov's big performance ended a brutal dry spell in which he had just one assist over nine games. Despite that slump, he has six goals and 14 points through 17 appearances on the year. Merkulov is capable of putting up 50 points per year, as he's done in each of his three full AHL campaigns, and that scoring touch could help the 25-year-old get a call-up at some point.

  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Two goals in Sunday's AHL win

Merkulov scored twice on three shots in AHL Providence's 4-1 win over Bridgeport on Sunday. Merkulov continues to shine at the AHL level with four goals and nine points over six contests. He's gotten on the scoresheet in five games, and three of those have been multi-point efforts. The winger is an established AHL scoring threat with at least 54 points in each of his three full seasons in the league. If he continues to play well, he should be at the top of the list for potential call-ups if the Bruins need reinforcements at the NHL level later in the season.

  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Shines in overtime win for AHL club

Merkulov scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Providence's 3-2 overtime win over Bridgeport. Merkulov cleared waivers Oct. 4 and has started the year positively for Providence with four points in two games. He scored a goal and assisted on tallies by Frederic Brunet and Matej Blumel in Saturday's contest. If Merkulov continues his strong play in the AHL, he could earn himself a call-up to Boston at some point in 2025-26. He has just one assist in 10 career NHL outings, but he's topped 50 points in each of the last three AHL campaigns.

Merkulov was put on the waiver wire Friday. Merkulov signed a two-way contract in the offseason, so this move is no surprise. Merkulov was assigned to AHL Providence on Monday. Merkulov has played in Boston's last two games and has one assist in five NHL appearances this season. If Brad Marchand (upper body) remains out for Tuesday's game versus Nashville, Merkulov will probably return to the big club.

  • Bruins' Georgi Merkulov: Gets first NHL point

Merkulov picked up an assist Saturday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Blues. Merkulov got his first NHL point following his recall from AHL Providence on Saturday. The undrafted, 24-year-old winger delivered 30 goals and 35 assists in 67 minor-league outings during the 2023-24 regular season. He has been productive in the AHL again this campaign, contributing two goals and nine assists through 12 appearances. Merkulov is a potential middle-six forward who could offer fantasy value in deep formats if he can stick in the NHL, but don't expect him to replicate his AHL scoring.
