  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Signs two-year extension

Olofsson signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract extension with the Sabres on Wednesday.

Olofsson remained a solid top-six contributor for Buffalo in 2021-22, racking up 20 goals and 49 points, 12 of which came with the man advantage, while averaging 15:20 of ice time through 72 contests. If he's able to play a full 82-game slate, Olofsson should produce 20-plus goals and could crack the 50-point mark for the first time in his career in 2022-23.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Two helpers Saturday

Olofsson notched two assists in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders.

The fourth-year winger continues his late-season surge. Olofsson has multiple points in three straight games, and over the last 14 contests he's racked up eight goals and 19 points. With two games remaining for Buffalo, he's now one point shy of his first career 50-point campaign.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Stays hot with three helpers

Olofsson dished out three assists -- one shorthanded -- in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Devils.

Olofsson's first two assists came in the second period, as the Sabres scored three times after a scoreless first before the Devils got one back eight seconds prior to the second intermission. The Swedish winger's third helper came on the game's final goal. Olofsson has been tremendous down the stretch, notching eight goals and 17 points over his last 13 games.

Olofsson scored two power-play goals on four shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Flyers.

Olofsson has been hot down the stretch, totaling eight goals and 14 points in his last 12 games. Five of those eight goals have come on the power play, where Olofsson has a little more room to make use of his excellent shot.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Two-point performance Tuesday

Olofsson scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Hurricanes.

Both points came in the third period, as Olofsson broke open a 2-2 tie by wiring home a slick feed from Rasmus Dahlin with just under eight minutes left in the game, before Dylan Cozens tapped home the rebound on his shot from the top of the faceoff circle a few minutes later for an insurance tally. Olofsson has three multi-point efforts in his last five games, pushing him up to 16 goals and 37 points through 61 contests on the season.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Two points including winner Friday

Olofsson scored the game-winning goal on the power play and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Predators.

He ripped home a one-timer on a feed from Dylan Cozens late in the second period, the only goal on the night that didn't come before the first intermission. Olofsson has come alive since the beginning of March, pocketing eight goals and 11 points through 15 games.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Sparks offense in comeback win

Olofsson scored twice on five shots and added an assist in Monday's 6-5 win over the Blackhawks.

Olofsson's pair of goals sparked the Sabres' offense to life in the second period, and one of them was a power-play tally. He also set up Alex Tuch on a game-tying goal in the third. This was Olofsson's first multi-point effort since Feb. 15. The 26-year-old winger has 14 tallies, 33 points, 130 shots on net and a minus-19 rating in a career-high 57 outings.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Nabs helper in overtime win

Olofsson recorded an assist in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Canucks.

Olofsson set up Casey Mittelstadt's first-period tally. Through nine games in March, Olofsson has four goals and an assist despite often playing in a third-line role. The scoring winger is at 29 points, 119 shots on net and a minus-22 rating through 53 contests, though he's cooled off dramatically in 2022 after starting the season well.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Notches lone goal

Olofsson added a goal on four shots in a 6-1 loss to the Oilers on Thursday.

Olofsson kept the goose egg off of the Buffalo side of the scoreboard, not that it was much consolation in the lopsided loss. The left winger has four goals in seven contests in March, with 11 goals and 17 assists in 51 contests this season.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Nets winner

Olofsson scored a power-play goal in a 3-1 win over Vegas on Thursday.

It stood as the game-winner on a night the entire Sabres' squad was motivated to show their fans their strength in Jack Eichel's return to the city. Olofsson has three goals in his last five games.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Returning Friday

Olofsson (illness) will play Friday in St. Louis, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Olofsson sat out Wednesday's game against the Canadiens due to a non-COVID-19 illness, but he's back taking line rushes at morning skate Friday and is good to go against the Blues. With 24 points in 42 games, Olofsson has been a nice source of secondary scoring and a decent matchup-based fantasy spot-start this season.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Under the weather

Olofsson won't play Wednesday versus Montreal due to a non-COVID illness, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

With Olofsson on the shelf, look for Mark Jankowski to draw into the lineup against the Canadiens. Olofsson will be reevaluated prior to Friday's game versus St. Louis.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Ends lengthy goal drought

Olofsson scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

With the score tied 3-3 and less than three minutes left in the third period, Olofsson took a cross-ice pass at the faceoff dot and snapped a shot that Ilya Sorokin couldn't handle. Olofsson then iced the game with the second of Buffalo's two empty-net tallies with 26 seconds remaining. The outburst snapped a 30-game goal drought for the 26-year-old, who hadn't lit the lamp since returning from an undisclosed injury in mid-November. It's not clear if Olofsson had been playing at less than 100 percent during that slump or had simply been unlucky, but with the monkey now off his back he'll try to regain the form that saw him score 20 goals in 54 games only two seasons ago.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Playing Sunday

Olofsson was removed from the COVID-19 list and will play Sunday against Colorado.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Enters COVID-19 protocols

Olofsson entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Saturday.

Olofsson will need to return two negative tests before he can get back in action. The winger will likely miss Saturday's game versus the Coyotes and Sunday's contest against the Avalanche at a minimum. Kyle Okposo (upper body) will likely replace Olofsson in a middle-six role.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Takes three shots

Olofsson finished with three shots in a 3-1 win over the Senators on Tuesday.

Olofsson has 11 assists over his last 23 games since coming back from injury (undisclosed) against the Rangers on Nov. 21. However, the winger has not scored a goal during that span. The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in 54 games in 2019-20 and 13 goals in 56 games in 2020-21, so there is room for improvement.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Bags two apples in limited TOI

Olofsson recorded a pair of assists in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Jets.

Olofsson's 12:41 of ice time was the lowest among Buffalo's forwards, as the Sabres deployed their defensive-minded lines more while protecting the lead for most of the night. The Swede made the most of his limited opportunities, though, helping out on Rasmus Dahlin's game-winner late in the second and Jeff Skinner's third-period insurance marker. Olofsson's last goal came back on Oct. 31, but he's been productive overall with five goals and 17 points in 20 appearances.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Offers helper in loss

Olofsson recorded an assist and four shots on goal in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Hurricanes.

Olofsson was initially credited with a goal in the first period, but it was ruled he never tipped the Henri Jokiharju shot that beat Antti Raanta. The 26-year-old Olofsson is up to five goals, 10 assists, 38 shots and a minus-4 rating in 16 contests. A point-per-game pace is likely a little too lofty for the Swede, but his prominent role should keep him at least as a depth option in fantasy.

  • Sabres' Victor Olofsson: Slings assist Monday

Olofsson posted an assist, two shots on goal and a minus-3 rating in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Kraken.

Olofsson set up Jeff Skinner for the latter's second goal of the game. The 26-year-old Olofsson has served as a playmaker with five assists in six games since he returned from a soft-tissue injury. Typically more of a finisher, the Swedish winger has five goals, nine assists, 32 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating in 14 appearances this year. He might not maintain a point-per-game pace, but his power-play skills make him worth a look in standard fantasy formats.

Olofsson (undisclosed) will be activated from injured reserve to play Sunday against the Rangers, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
