Commesso was assigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday.
Commesso went 1-1-0 in Chicago's last two games, stopping 55 of 60 shots and posting a 36-save shutout in Saturday's 3-0 win over Nashville. The Blackhawks also returned Stanislav Berezhnoy to the minors, which could bode well for the availability of Spencer Knight (illness) and Arvid Soderblom (illness) ahead of Monday's home matchup against Edmonton.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: First win comes via shutout
Rotowire
Commesso posted a 36-save shutout in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Predators.
Commesso started for the second day in a row, but he was able to handle the ample traffic the Predators were able to direct to the net. The 23-year-old netminder has allowed five goals on 60 shots over his two outings this season. Commesso will be with the Blackhawks until Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom recover from the illness that has ravaged Chicago's roster. Commesso's not yet in a position to challenge Soderblom for the backup role, but he has been steady between the pipes for AHL Rockford.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Starting again Saturday
Rotowire
Commesso will start on the road versus the Predators on Saturday, Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean reports.
Commesso will get the nod for consecutive games as the Blackhawks appear to still be missing Spencer Knight (illness) and Arvid Soderblom (illness). Commesso allowed five goals on 24 shots Friday versus the Capitals after starting on short notice. Given the likelihood that the team in front of him is far below 100 percent health, Commesso is a risky fantasy option.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Loses season debut
Rotowire
Commesso stopped 19 of 24 shots in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Capitals.
Commesso received a tough assignment, filling in for Spencer Knight (illness) and Arvid Soderblom (illness) on short notice. The 23-year-old Commesso wasn't up to the challenge, though the depleted lineup in front of him didn't do any favors. He may be needed to start Saturday in Nashville as well if Knight and Soderblom remain under the weather with the stomach bug that is ravaging the Blackhawks' locker room.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Making start Friday
Rotowire
Commesso will start Friday's home game versus the Capitals rather than Spencer Knight (illness), Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.
Commesso will make his third NHL appearance and his first in 2025-26 as the Blackhawks deal with an illness going around their locker room. At AHL Rockford this season, Commesso has a 6-11-2 record despite a 2.72 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Sent to AHL
Rotowire
Commesso was reassigned to AHL Rockford on Thursday, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.
Commesso spent a week and a half with the NHL club since Petr Mrazek (groin) was sidelined. However, Commesso made just two appearances (one start) during his time with Chicago, posting an 0-1-0 record, 3.38 GAA and .846 save percentage. He'll head back to the minors, where he should see more consistent playing time, after Mrazek was activated from injured reserve Thursday.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Makes NHL debut in relief
Rotowire
Commesso turned aside both the shots he faced after replacing Arvid Soderblom midway through the third period of Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
It was the first NHL action of Commesso's career, and the 22-year-old netminder nearly got rewarded with a win when Chicago almost rallied from a 5-1 deficit. Petr Mrazek (groin) isn't expected back for at least another week, and with the team playing back-to-back games this weekend, Commesso seems likely to get his first NHL start either Saturday in New Jersey or Sunday back at home in a rematch with the Isles.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Brought up from minors
Rotowire
Commesso was elevated to the NHL roster by the Blackhawks on Tuesday.
Commesso's recall would seem to indicate that either Petr Mrazek or Arvid Soderblom won't be available against the Ducks on Tuesday, and the team will need Commesso to serve as the backup. While fantasy players will have to wait to see who is starting for the Hawks, it almost certainly won't be Commesso, so he shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of short-term fantasy value.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Heading back to AHL
Rotowire
Commesso was returned to AHL Rockford on Monday.
Commesso was called up by the Blackhawks on Friday but will return to the minors following a brief stint in the NHL, which could signal that Arvid Soderblom (illness) is close to full health. Commesso hasn't yet made his NHL debut but could rejoin Chicago again at some point to provide additional depth.

Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Sent to minors
Rotowire
Commesso was assigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Commesso wasn't particularly effective during his lone preseason start, as he turned aside 35 of 42 shots in a 7-2 loss to Minnesota. He made 38 regular-season appearances for Rockford last year and will return to the minors now that the preseason has concluded. Since Laurent Brossoit (knee) will begin the season on injured reserve, Commesso could be called up if Petr Mrazek or Arvid Soderblom deal with injuries at some point.
