  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Lauded as NHL's First Star of Week

Celebrini picked up a power-play assist in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Capitals. The assist pushed Celebrini's point streak to five games (four goals, four assists). He was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday with four goals and three assists in his previous four games. Celebrini has 15 points, including eight goals, and 51 shots in just 16 outings in 2024-25, and it's sometimes easy to forget that he won't turn 19 until June. His flair with the puck has made Sharks' games must-watch hockey.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Sends assist in win

Celebrini notched an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Kraken. Celebrini extended his point streak to four games (four goals, three assists) when he set up Cody Ceci's second-period tally. The helper put Celebrini at 14 points, 47 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through 15 appearances. Despite missing 12 games due to an injury earlier in the season, he ranks third in points among rookies, trailing just Matvei Michkov (19) and Logan Stankoven (15). Celebrini is the real deal, and he's already made the Sharks a more exciting team in 2024-25 than they were for much of 2023-24.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Bends twine

Celebrini scored a goal on three shots in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Senators. Celebrini has four goals and three assists over his last six contests. The 18-year-old rookie is living up to the hype, and he's filled in well on the top line due to the absence of Mikael Granlund (upper body) over the last two games. Celebrini has seven tallies, four assists, 43 shots on net and a minus-5 rating through 13 appearances. This marks the first time he's gotten on the scoresheet in consecutive games.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Leads offense with three points

Celebrini scored twice on four shots, dished an assist, added two PIM, levied two hits and blocked two shots in Monday's 7-2 win over the Kings. This was Celebrini's fourth multi-point effort in just 12 contests as he continues to live up to the No. 1 overall hype. His pair of tallies came in the third period, with the first being the game-winner and the second adding insurance on a power play. The 18-year-old is up to six goals, four assists, 41 shots on net and a minus-5 rating while seeing steady top-six minutes when healthy. Celebrini has yet to assemble a point streak, but he's been dynamic when his game is on.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Two apples in loss

Celebrini notched two assists in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blues. Celebrini banked secondary helpers on Alexander Wennberg's fourth and fifth goals of the season in the loss. Celebrini added three shots, two takeaways and a plus-1 rating in 23:48 of ice time. The British Columbia native turned the puck over four times in the loss, but he seems to be gaining the trust of head coach Ryan Warsofsky -- Celebrini's 23:48 of ice time in the contest was the most of any Shark and a season high for the highly-touted rookie. Celebrini has accounted for four goals, three assists and a minus-3 rating through 10 games.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Scores game-winning OT goal

Celebrini scored the game-winning goal in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings. The star prospect scored his fourth goal of the season, and while there will be many more to come in his career, this is likely the most important one so far. He has four goals in eight games as an 18-year-old rookie, and while there will be growing pains and some consistency issues as he navigates his first year in the league, there's no question Celebrini is as talented as advertised.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Ruled out for another two weeks

General manager Mike Grier said Monday that Celebrini (lower body) will miss at least two more weeks, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Celebrini has been unavailable since Opening Night on Oct. 10, when he recorded a goal and an assist in 17:35 of ice time against the Blues. Although Celebrini recently resumed skating, he's considered week-to-week and will be sidelined until at least early November. Mikael Granlund should continue to see work on the Sharks' top line while Celebrini remains sidelined.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Won't travel with team

Celebrini (lower body) will not be with the Sharks for their upcoming three-game road trip, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Monday. Given his placement on injured reserve, Celebrini's absence for this three-game trip shouldn't come as a surprise. It's a tough blow for the 18-year-old center, especially considering how impressive he was in his NHL debut, racking up a goal and an assist versus the Blues. Whenever the 2024 first-overall pick is cleared to play, he should reclaim his spot on the first line and No. 1 power-play unit.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Lands on injured reserve

Celebrini (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. In a corresponding move, the Sharks brought up defenseman Jack Thompson from AHL San Jose on Saturday. During his NHL debut, Celebrini registered one goal, one assist and two shots on net in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to St. Louis. He is considered week-to-week, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Dealing with lower-body injury

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said Friday that Celebrini is dealing with a lower-body injury and is still being evaluated, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. Celebrini wasn't on the ice for Friday's practice session, and he's apparently dealing with an injury following his productive showing during Thursday's Opening Night loss to the Blues in which he tallied a goal and an assist in 17:35 of ice time. Warsofsky isn't yet sure whether Celebrini will be available for Saturday's game against the Ducks.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Wastes no time in debut

Celebrini scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blues. Celebrini's first period of NHL play went about as well as it could. He scored on his first shot, opening the scoring at 7:01 of the first period. Just over 10 minutes later, he set up Tyler Toffoli's goal, securing a multi-point debut for Celebrini. The No. 1 overall pick from 2024 will have every opportunity to put up big numbers as the new centerpiece of the Sharks' offense. Fantasy managers who can stomach a plus-minus rating that's likely to be in the red should not hesitate to deploy Celebrini on a regular basis.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Out Saturday

Celebrini (lower body) won't play in Saturday's preseason game versus Vegas, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now. Celebrini's lower-body injury isn't believed to be serious, so he might still be available for Opening Night against St. Louis on Thursday. Selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, Celebrini is expected to be a serious contender to win the scoring title among rookies this campaign.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Unavailable for Friday

Celebrini (lower body) is doing well but will miss Friday's preseason game against Anaheim, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now on Thursday. Celebrini might still be fine for next Thursday's Opening Night against St. Louis. The 2024 NHL Draft's No. 1 overall pick is going into the season as a likely contender for the Calder Trophy, and the rebuilding Sharks are expected to lean on him heavily. Connor Bedard averaged 19:47 of ice time, including 3:22 with the man advantage, as a rookie with Chicago last season, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Celebrini receive a similar workload with San Jose.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Labeled day-to-day

Celebrini is listed as day-to-day due to his lower-body injury, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Celebrini's status as day-to-day should bring a collective sigh of relief to Sharks fans after the 18-year-old rookie was forced to leave Tuesday's matchup with Utah early. At this point, it seems likely the team will take a cautious approach with it's prized, No. 1 overall wunderkind, so fantasy players should probably consider him unlikely to play ahead of preseason matchups with Anaheim and Vegas on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Barring any setbacks, Celebrini remains poised to fill the first-line center role for Opening Night against the Blues on Oct. 10.
