  • Flames' Henry Mews: In lineup for NCAA opener

Mews (knee) is in the lineup for the University of Michigan's season opener versus Bowling Green State University on Friday, per Anna Liao of The Michigan Daily. Mews sustained a season-ending knee injury last November, but he's now good to go for the 2026-27 campaign. He's entering his sophomore season for the Wolverines. It's unclear when the 20-year-old defenseman would consider signing an entry-level deal with the Flames.

  • Flames' Henry Mews: Done for season

Mews sustained a season-ending knee injury Saturday against the University of Notre Dame, Matthew Auchincloss of The Michigan Daily reports. Mews was on the receiving end of a knee-on-knee collision, and he has suffered a significant injury. The defenseman had nine points in 10 games prior to the injury in his freshman campaign. It's not yet clear if Mews will be ready for the start of the 2026-27 campaign, but it's likely he'll return to the University of Michigan to continue his development.

  • Flames' Henry Mews: Making plays in first NCAA season

Mews logged two assists in the University of Michigan's 5-3 win over the University of Notre Dame on Friday. Mews is up to nine assists through nine games in his first year with the Wolverines after heading to college following three years in the OHL. The 19-year-old defenseman is a Flames prospect, and the team has enough talent in the pipeline to allow Mews to continue developing in the NCAA if he so desires. He doesn't have a ton of finishing in his game, logging no more than 15 goals in any of his junior seasons, and his defensive play still requires some work.

  • Flames' Henry Mews: Lighting it up following trade

Mews has continued to put up huge numbers, with two goals and 15 assists in 12 games, after being traded to OHL Sudbury from OHL Ottawa. Mews has racked up a combined 67 points in 50 OHL games this year and should cruise to career-best numbers this season. At just 18 years of age, the blueliner likely will have to spend another year in junior before making the jump to the professional ranks.
