Top Wilmer Skoog News

  • Panthers' Wilmer Skoog: Three-point effort in AHL win

Skoog scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Charlotte's 8-2 win over Springfield on Wednesday.

Skoog had been running a little cold with just two goals over his last eight outings before breaking the slump. He's up to 13 goals, 23 points and 80 shots on net over 35 outings this season. Skoog is one point shy of matching his 72-game point total from the 2024-25 regular season, and he's eight behind his 2023-24 performance, which came in 49 appearances.

  • Panthers' Wilmer Skoog: Two tallies in AHL win

Skoog scored twice in AHL Charlotte's 4-3 win over Iowa on Friday.

Skoog has racked up five goals and 10 points over 12 contests this season. He had just 24 points in 72 regular-season outings a year ago, but he clearly showed something that earned him a one-year contract in July. The 26-year-old forward's uptick in scoring is a positive sign, but it's still unlikely to lead to anything more than a brief call-up to the Panthers this season if injuries pile up for the NHL roster.

  • Panthers' Wilmer Skoog: Placed on waivers

Skoog was put on waivers by Florida on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Skoog had nine goals, 24 points and 63 PIM in 72 regular-season outings with AHL Charlotte in 2024-25. The 26-year-old hasn't made his NHL debut, and there's no guarantee that it will come this campaign. Look for him to rejoin the Checkers if he clears waivers.

  • Panthers' Wilmer Skoog: Pens one-year contract

Skoog inked a one-year, two-way contract with Florida on Thursday.

Skoog has spent the last two seasons in the minors after a four-year career at Boston University. The 26-year-old had nine goals and 15 assists over 72 AHL regular-season contests with Charlotte, a big drop from the previous season in which he had 22 goals and nine helpers in only 49 regular-season games with the Checkers.
