  • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Sent down Tuesday

Sokolov was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Tuesday. Sokolov played in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders, earning two hits, a blocked shot and a minus-1 rating in 9:40 of ice time. The 21-year-old could get a longer look with the big club if they don't get some injured forwards back in time for Monday's game versus the Devils.

  • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Recalled from AHL

Sokolov was recalled from AHL Belleville to the active roster Thursday. Sokolov has averaged 11:08 of ice time -- 1:29 during the power play -- and been held without a point over four NHL appearances this season. • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Dropped to minors

Sokolov was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Tuesday. Sokolov posted a minus-2 rating while averaging 11:08 of ice time in four games with the Senators. The team had three games postponed this week so the 21-year-old and several other skaters were sent back to the minors.

  • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Recalled from AHL Belleville

Sokolov was called up from the minors Monday. Sokolov is poised to make his NHL debut versus Boston on Tuesday as a result of the absences of Dylan Gambrell (COVID-19 protocols) and Connor Brown (COVID-19 protocols). In the minors, the 21-year-old Sokolov has been performing well with two goals and four assists in nine contests.

  • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Signs entry-level contract

Sokolov signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Senators on Friday. The Senators selected Sokolov with the 61st overall pick in this year's draft. The 20-year-old Russian spent the 2019-20 campaign with the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL, racking up 46 goals and 46 assists in just 52 games. He could make the jump to the AHL for the 2020-21 campaign, but he's likely still at least a year or two away from making an impact at the NHL level.

  • Senators' Egor Sokolov: Ottawa takes gamble on over-ager

Sokolov was drafted 61st overall by the Senators at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft on Wednesday. A distinct lack of speed led to Sokolov being passed over in both the 2018 and 2019 entry drafts. That said, it's difficult to argue against a player who just posted 46 goals and 92 points in 52 games for QMJHL Cape Breton. Sokolov is very big (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) and has excellent hands. He's not going to create many plays off the rush, but he's borderline dominant in down low. There's a bunch of risk here given Sokolov's age and heavy feet, but he clearly has multiple NHL-caliber traits. Just approach with caution -- he needs to show up as a regular on NHL ice before any fantasy investment is made here. Even then, he could be confined to bottom-six time.
