Sturm snapped an eight-game point drought with his helper on a Thomas Bordeleau tally in the first period. The 28-year-old Sturm is up to 12 points, 59 shots on net, 62 hits, 34 blocked shots and a minus-19 rating through 52 appearances this season. He continues to maintain a middle-six role, but as a more defensive center, Sturm has little fantasy upside in a weak offense.... See More ... See Less

Sturm has two goals and an assist over his last five games, representing solid production for a middle-six forward in a weak offense. The 28-year-old has centered the Sharks' third line in recent games while playing a more defensive role. He's at 11 points, 41 shots on net, 47 hits and a minus-11 rating through 42 appearances this season, so he doesn't need to be tracked closely in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Nico Sturm: Scores shortie on former team
Sturm scored a shorthanded goal in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Wild. Sturm has been an important player for the Sharks during a tough season, but even compared to his modest production in prior seasons, it has been hard for fantasy managers to rely on him. Sunday's tally brings Sturm to just five goals and 10 points through 41 games. There isn't much reason to believe things will change, as Sturm averages just one shot per game.... See More ... Sharks' Nico Sturm: Sustains injury Wednesday

There was no update on Sturm after the game, but he was pointing to his head as he left the ice following the hit. The 28-year-old has seven points through 33 outings this season, so he's not a player fantasy managers will need to keep tabs on. If Sturm can't play Thursday versus the Flames, Kevin Labanc may enter the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Nico Sturm: Playing against Ducks
Sturm (abdomen) will be activated off injured reserve ahead of Saturday's matchup with Anaheim, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Sturm has been on the shelf since Dec. 12 against the Jets, a stretch of 16 games on the sideline due to his abdominal injury. With Logan Couture (lower body) making his season debut as well, the Sharks suddenly find themselves with some center depth. As such, Sturm figures to slide into a third-line role behind Couture and Tomas Hertl.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Nico Sturm: On track to return
Sturm (abdomen) is on track to return Saturday against Anaheim, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Sturm will need to be activated off injured reserve before returning, but it looks like that shoud happen prior to Saturday's contest. The 28-year-old forward has collected just four points through 26 contests this season, so his return to action won't make waves in fantasy circles.... See More ... See Less -

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Likely to miss road trip
Sturm (middle body) is expected to miss the Sharks' next two games, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Sturm suffered the injury Tuesday and appears likely to be out Friday versus the Coyotes and Sunday versus the Avalanche at a minimum. Sharks' Nico Sturm: Departs in third period
Sturm sustained what head coach David Quinn described as a "mid-body" injury in the third period of Tuesday's game versus the Jets, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports. Sturm's injury will once again test the Sharks' already shaky center depth. The forward's timeline to return is unclear pending further evaluation. If Sturm misses Friday's game in Arizona, Luke Kunin could move up to center the third line after returning from an injury as a winger Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Gets back in game
Sturm (upper body) returned to Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. It's rare for players to be deemed questionable to return to a game and end up making it back, but Sturm did just that. Assuming he doesn't feel the aftereffects of a Nicolas Hague shot in the coming days, Sturm can be considered healthy. He should continue to play in a bottom-six role.... See More ... See Less -
