  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Supplies sixth goal of 2022-23

Leason tallied a goal in a 5-4 overtime loss to Colorado on Sunday. Leason has six goals and nine points in 54 contests this season. Anaheim has used him sparingly in 2022-23, providing him with an average of just 10:54 of ice time, so his limited offensive contributions aren't surprising. Leason also isn't a lineup staple, having been a healthy scratch four times over Anaheim's last seven games.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Scores against hometown team

Leason scored a goal, added two hits and logged two PIM in Friday's 3-1 win over the Flames. Leason was a healthy scratch for six of the last nine games, but he got into the lineup in his hometown. He was able to make an impact with a second-period tally that stood as the game-winner. The 23-year-old winger still isn't getting much of a look in a fourth-line role -- he has eight points, 43 shots on net, 32 hits and a minus-19 rating while averaging 10:53 of ice time through 49 outings.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Grabs two points

Leason scored a goal on two shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blackhawks. Leason had been a healthy scratch for the last five games, and he had just one assist in his previous 19 appearances, so this was an unexpected showing. He took advantage of Petr Mrazek's shaky control for his second-period tally, and he set up Jayson Megna on a similar play later in the frame. Leason now has seven points, 36 shots on net, 29 hits and a minus-14 rating through 41 appearances this season. He's likely to remain in a fourth-line role when he plays.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Ends drought with assist

Leason provided an assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Oilers. Leason ended his 14-game point drought by setting up a Simon Benoit goal in the third period. The 23-year-old Leason has played mainly in a fourth-line role in a weak offense, so it's not surprising that he's struggled to get on the scoresheet regularly. He is up to five points, 32 shots on net, 26 hits, six PIM and a minus-14 rating through 36 outings. He had six points in 36 games with the Capitals last year, so his production hasn't changed much with his new team.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Offense goes cold

Leason has no points and a minus-11 rating over his last 14 games. Leason scored in back-to-back games Dec. 4 and 6, but the 23-year-old hasn't produced a point or a plus rating since. He's at four points, a minus-15 rating, 29 shots on net, 25 hits and 13 blocked shots through 35 contests this season while playing mainly in a fourth-line role.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Goals in back-to-back outings

Leason scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Hurricanes. Leason tallied the Ducks' third goal just over halfway through the second period. He's scored three times this season, with two of those goals coming in the last two games. The 23-year-old winger has four points, 18 shots, 15 hits and a minus-4 rating through 21 outings while serving in a bottom-six role. Even with the recent improvement on the scoresheet, he's not going to make much of a splash in fantasy.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Converts breakaway tally

Leason scored a second-period goal during Sunday's 5-2 defeat to the host Jets. Leason forced a turnover following a face-off in the defensive zone and outraced the Jets' defense, scoring his first goal in 14 outings Sunday. Skating on the fourth line with Max Jones and Mason McTavish, Leason has marked the scoresheet in just two of his 20 appearances. He added three shots during 12:48 of ice time Sunday.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Gets first two points of season

Leason scored a goal on three shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Sharks. Leason contributed both points in the first period. The goal and assist were both firsts for the 23-year-old as a Duck. He's added four shots on net, four hits, two blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating while logging bottom-six minutes through six contests since he was claimed on waivers from the Capitals last month. His limited role makes him a non-factor in most fantasy formats.

  • Ducks' Brett Leason: Plucked by Ducks

Anaheim claimed Leason off waivers from Washington on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Leason posted three goals and three assists in 36 games for Washington last season. He also earned six goals and 13 points over 31 AHL contests in 2021-22. Leason could start the season on Anaheim's fourth line.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Lands on waivers

Leason was waived by the Capitals on Sunday. Leason split the 2021-22 season between the Capitals and Hershey of the AHL. He had three goals and three assists in 36 games for Washington. Leason also earned six goals and 13 points over 31 minor-league contests with the Bears. He will be assigned to the minors if he clears.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Secures two-year pact

Leason agreed to terms on a two-year, $1.55 million contract with Washington on Monday. Perhaps most significant for Leason is the fact that his new deal is a one-way contract, which means the club at least anticipates him making the 23-man roster for Opening Night of the 2022-23 campaign. In 36 games during his debut season, the 23-year-old winger secured three goals on 45 shots, three assists and 16 hits while averaging just 8:57 of ice time.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Sent back to AHL

Leason was reassigned to AHL Hershey after Saturday's Game 3 win over the Panthers. Leason played in Game 2 on Thursday, but he lost his place in the lineup to Connor McMichael on Saturday. The 23-year-old Leason could be an option to be recalled later in the playoffs if the Capitals need more forward depth.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Brought up from minors

Leason was called up from AHL Hershey on Thursday. Leason's promotion doesn't bode well for the availability of Tom Wilson (lower body) for Thursday's matchup with Florida. Even with Leason being added to the squad, he's far from a lock to break into the lineup and could still find himself watching from the press box in favor of Connor McMichael or Axel Jonsson-Fjallby.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Reassigned to AHL Hershey

Leason was shipped down to the minors Monday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports. With the Caps adding Marcus Johansson and Johan Larsson (lower body) at the deadline, Leason finds himself the odd man out for a spot in the lineup. Still, Leason should be atop the list of potential call-ups throughout the remainder of the year should an injury or two pop up among the club's forwards.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Recalled Sunday

Leason was elevated from AHL Hershey on Sunday, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports. With T.J. Oshie (lower body) ailing, Leason has been summoned to help stabilize the right side of the Capitals' forward ranks. The 22-year-old has posted three goals and six points in 35 games during his rookie season with the Capitals.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Dropped to AHL affiliate

Leason was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Thursday. Leason's demotion suggests T.J. Oshie (upper body) may be ready to return Thursday versus the Rangers. If that ends up being the case, Leason, who's picked up six points through 35 top-level appearances this year, could be in for an extended stay with Hershey.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Sent back down

Leason was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Tuesday. The 22-year-old WHL standout has had a slow start to his NHL career, posting just six points in 33 games this year. He'll head back to Hershey, where he produced 20 points in 33 contests last season.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Added to active roster

Leason was promoted from the taxi squad to the active roster Wednesday. Leason has averaged 8:56 of ice time and been held without a point over his last five NHL appearances. The 22-year-old's most recent NHL points were registered in a 5-2 win over Winnipeg on Dec. 17. He was elevated in light of Alex Ovechkin's entrance into COVID-19 protocols the same day.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Added to taxi squad

Leason was reassigned from the active roster to the taxi squad Tuesday. Leason has averaged 8:58 of ice time and recorded six points over 32 appearances this season. He hasn't recorded a point in his last 11 performances. The 22-year-old averaged a reduced 6:45 of ice time through his last three games and did not participate in Friday's contest against Dallas.

  • Capitals' Brett Leason: Elevated to active roster

Leason was recalled to the main roster Thursday. Leason has averaged 8:50 of ice time and has recorded six points through 25 NHL appearances this season. The 22-year-old was elevated to join 12 other eligible forwards on the Capitals' roster so the ice time he receives may be limited.
