The U.S. women's swimming team got off to a solid start on Saturday, winning silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay on the first day of competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Americans just couldn't catch up to the heavy favorite, Australia, who finished in a world record time of 3:30.65.

The U.S. team was made up of Simone Manuel, Abby Weitzeil, Dana Vollmer and Katie Ledecky.

It's the first Olympic medal of the games for all four swimmers. Ledecky got the first of what she hopes is five Olympic medals.

The 19-year-old will also compete in the 200-, 400- and 800m freestyle events, along with the 4x200m freestyle relay.
