2024 Paris Olympics odds, picks: Proven expert reveals men's gymnastics all-around predictions for July 31
SportsLine Olympics expert Mike Tierney, who has a track record of success with his Olympics picks, has just released his predictions for the men's all-around final

American gymnasts Paul Juda and Fred Richard will try to end a 20-year drought on Wednesday when they compete in the men's gymnastics all-around finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics at Bercy Arena. No American man has earned a medal in the all-around competition since 2004 when Paul Hamm overcame a near-disastrous fall on the vault to win the gold medal. Since then the best finish by an American in the men's all-around was seventh by Sam Mikulak in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
For Wednesday, reigning Olympic all-around champion and two-time world all-around champion Daiki Hashimoto of Japan enters as one of the favorites along with world all-around champion Boheng Zhang. The competition is set to start at 11:30 a.m ET. Before locking in any 2024 Paris Olympics picks or men's gymnastics predictions, you need to see what SportsLine Olympic insider Mike Tierney has to say.
A national sportswriter whose work appears in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered nine Olympic Games in person. At Rio in 2016, Tierney profited big-time. He told readers to bet Over on Team USA's gold medal count (41.5) and Over on Team USA's overall medal count (102.5). The result? 46 golds, 121 medals and two easy cashes. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Tierney hit two of his three predictions: Germany (+200) to win the most gold medals and the United States winning Under 10.5 gold medals (+110).
In the most recent Summer Games, in Tokyo, Tierney correctly had the USA Over 111.5 medals (won 113), and for the 2022 Winter Olympics, in Beijing, he correctly predicted the Americans would win Over 22.5 total medals (won 25) and finished profitable on his 55 event picks.
For Wednesday, Tierney has broken down the men's gymnastics all-around final at the 2024 Paris Olympics and has locked in his predictions. You can visit SportsLine now to see his 2024 Paris Olympics picks.
Men's gymnastic all-around final preview
The battle for gold shapes up as a two-man duel between Hashimoto and Zhang, who have very little separating them. Hashimoto won the all-around gold at the most recent Olympics, in Tokyo, and has won the all-around at the last two world championships. Meanwhile Zhang is the last person to have defeated Hashimoto in the all-around, at the 2021 world championships. Zhang also finished first in the qualification round on Saturday.
Both Juda and Richard have ground to make up in order to reach the podium. While Zhang did not score worse than 14.333 on any of the six apparatus in the qualification round, both Richard and Juda had five scores below that mark. Richard finished 10th overall, 5.099 points behind Zhang. Meanwhile Juda was 13th. See Tierney's picks right here.
