Winter Olympics 2022: Day 1 schedule, what to watch, results as Beijing Games begin
A breakdown of what is happening on the opening day of the 2022 Olympics

The Winter Olympics are officially underway. With the opening ceremony complete, the events of the 2022 Games have begun just months after the 2020 Summer Olympics took place in Tokyo due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the opening ceremony, which began at 7 a.m. ET Friday, there is a large break in the action from Beijing due to the 13-hour time difference. There will be an encore presentation of the opening ceremony that will be shown on NBC at 8 p.m.
Following that encore presentations, the events will resume on Friday (Saturday morning in China). Women's snowboarding slopestyle qualifying will be the first even once the action resumes. Every day CBS Sports will be with you for coverage of the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
