Leicester City vs. Sevilla aggregate score, highlights: Foxes' Champions League dream continues into final eight
It was a mighty comeback for the hosts
Leicester City advanced to the Champions League Quarterfinals on Tuesday, coming back from a 2-1 deficit in the Round of 16 first leg to beat Sevilla 2-0 in the second leg and advance 3-2 on aggregate.
With a bone-chilling atmosphere at King Power Stadium, Leicester was sharp from the very beginning. Yes, Sevilla had a couple good looks but the Foxes stuck together well at the back and did just enough in attack.
It took the hosts just 27 minutes to take the 1-0 lead and make it 2-2 on aggregate. It was Wes Morgan, the captain, who finished a free kick from Riyad Mahrez at the back post, getting a leg on the ball with Gabriel Mercardo marking him. The goal gave the team the overall advantage having scored an away goal in the first leg.

Marc Albrighton then made it 2-0 to Leicester just after the hour mark with a delightful trap and finish inside the box after a poor clearance from the Sevilla defense.

Knowing it needed a goal to draw level on aggregate and stay alive, Sevilla pushed forward in numbers and saw most of the possession, but the team looked like it wanted to walk the ball into the goal and didn’t try enough shots from outside the box to worry the hosts.
Sevilla’s chances of coming back took a hit about 15 minutes from time when Samir Nasri was shown his second yellow card, resulting in a red card, for a little headbutt on Jamie Vardy that the striker played up. Manager Jorge Sampaoli was also ejected later in the half.
But the visitors would receive a life-line. Vitolo was taken down in the box after shooting on frame with 12 minutes to go, and the ref for some reason gave a penalty kick. Steven N’Zonzi would take it, but Casper Schmeichel guessed the right way to keep it at 2-0.

That goal would have forced extra time, but it was not to be as Schmeichel showed off his skill at the perfect time. Sevilla also, you may remember, missed a penalty kick in the first leg, with Schmeichel making a save.
With this victory, the dream continues for Leicester. The Foxes, in their first Champions League ever and with a new manager, are now Champions League quarterfinalists.
